Hey girls.....as you know my mil is very ill w/lung cancer and my fh and I have not been working many hours at all. On top of that, we're really contributing to her medical care and keeping her looking attractive (wigs, dental work, etc.)
thank god we worked hard last summer and we have almost enough saved up for a simple wedding. We already booked CLM for 11/10/07.
I really need opinions on the most affordable dj, photo, video, limo, invites and favors.
* Invitations:-- I went to party city! same invites as expensive little shops, but 30% off!!! I really think anyone who hasn't done them yet should check them out.
Beyond that, I'm clueless. And now I need affordable vendors more than ever! I'd appreciate any opinions on vendors!! Thanks :)

i think i got a good deal with Atlantic Florist for my flowers, her name is Angie and she will not give you anything more then what you need, if you tell her that you are on a budget she will work with you.

I agree 100%. Angela gave me an excellent and I have a small flower budget. Also, look into the Wedding Center (I believe that's the company that offers video.photographer and DJ for a great package price). There was another bride on here who had gotten a really good combo package like that for only $3k (for everything). If I come up with anything else I will FM you.

I got a really good deal at VJ Entertainment for a DJ...Vinny there is awesome. FM me if you want any info but I'll tell you he came in the least expensive of all the DJ's we looked at and he does a great job.

Try With All My Heart in Port Jefferson for Flowers...They are a vendor on here!

I thought that my wedding was the most important thing in the world until my fmil got sick. Now all I really care about is doing w/e we can to make her comfortable. What you do comes back to you too. She was the best dil to her mother in law. Now she has a daughter in law who she adores. Plus, it's the right thing to do and it's in my heart to do it.

photography- im using Gray studios- so far theyre the cheapest ive found and do GREAT work

I got favors for my e-party at weddingcoach.com. They even came wrapped with a small thank you card attached. Everyone loved them and they were under $2 each - I saw the EXACT same ones at a bridal boutique and they were charging $11 each!!

As for cheap vendors, my sil had gone to Flowerama and booked all her major vendors through them at a great price!!! It comes as a package deal so you can get flowers, invites, dj, video/photo for like $4000!!! i think it may be more expensive if you use vendors a la carte.
Also, a bride mentioned flowers by brian, but i didnt have the greatest experience with them- and keep in mind that they are a high end florist- so they may be able to magically work within your budget but you will get a lot less! ( plus the wanted to charge me $125 for candle cps!!!!! in glass vases!! the nerve of them!)
otherwise, if you want to go a la carte, i can suggest national florist- i believe.. if its incorrect i will get back to you!
yea Party city has some really nice invitations. i went to the one in Atlantic Center w few months ago. But we decided to go with JeanM.

I got my invitations from Party City and was very happy with them. Occasionally, they even have them on sale for 40% off (just the invitations while everything else is still 30% off but, the invitations are the most expensive part).
I had my first invites in a week but, they were incorrect. I received my corrected ones 3 days later.

Check out Ariana Studios. They have really great packages, will cust. design one for you or eve work w/ ur budget. They have great work.
I also agree w/ the FBB comment they'll work w/ u but u won't get as much.. Good luck and fm me if you have any questions.

i just booked Atlantic Floral yesterday and was happy with my package. Angie is willing to work with a budget and you do get alot for your money. She even throws in extra stuff as well. she is great and sweet too!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

I am on a budget too... I would be more than happy to share any of vendors with you... feel free to FM. I am spending less than 20K for EVERYTHING and i'm having about 170 guests.
Tips to save money--this is just MY opinion...everyone has different priorities for their big day.
Flowers: Cut out centerpieces (they just die... who cares, JMO). Go to a local shoppe, they often do just as beautiful flowers at half the price of wedding floral designers
Cut out favors (they just end up in the trash)
DJ over band (although FM me, I got a band for not more than the cost of a DJ)
Limos: just get what you need and don't get the Hummer or some other 'hot' car, you will pay extra.... We are only doiing one... it's picking up the guys first, then me and my girls and then taking us ALL (and parents) to the reception
Invites: look on-line, or go to Party City or I did VERY well at Invitations and Beyond in Oceanside. they take 25% right off what is in the book.
Photo and video... soemtimes if you go to the same studio for BOTH you'll save...depends on the place though. our guy threw in the video for free!! (we're low season february!!!)
DJ- FM Entertainment- you won't find a nicer DJ for the $$$
Limo- Royalty Limos in Franklin Square.
Photography- Twelfth Night in New Hyde Park
Videography- In Sync Video in Blue Point. A bit of a hike if you live in Nassau but worth it.

We're on a tight budget too and heres who we're using:
I'm using Minnick Photography (he's on the budget vendor list that someone posted above) -- he's awesome and his prices are the lowest Ive seen ANYWHERE (and I called about 10 places).
Video we're using Michael Zhu from Forever Video (also on the budget vendor list). He defiantely knows his stuff! His prices are very reasonable and he's great.
Florists -- Burtons. Excellent prices --they'll work with any budget.
We did our invites from Party City and they came out great! We love them.
