So I love the idea of the photobooth but I really don't think it's worth $2000.
The main thing I loved about it was the instant feedback. My guests would get a copy of the photo as a souvenier, and then I would get a copy placed in a scrap book where they could write a message.
So, I think I found a soultion. Hire someone with a polaroid (or similar-type camera because Polaroid is no longer making film) to take the photos and place them in the scrap book. I can make up stickers to place on the photo the guest gets to keep, and then the same person taking the polaroids can be in charge of placing the photos in the scrap book and getting people to write messages.
I'm already going to have the DJ crew taking candid shots that are going to be rotating on the screen all night. He said he could have someone do this instead, or would charge a very reasonable price if I want both.
What do you think? Do you think it's the same. I really just like having that little memento of on the spot photos and comments from the people at my wedding.
Also - for a wedding of 140, how many shots should I plan for? Assume each shot in the scrap book has a duplicate for the person in it.

There are also blue tooth printers that can print from a cell phone. Quality of the printer is good just have to worry about the cell phone camera quality. Not sure of price.

I asked my DJ about printing from a digital camera right there and she said that the cost would be more because of how much ink those machines need.
Thanks for the idea of taking Polaroids as people walk in. Maybe I'll make sure to do that, and then leave some extra for some other funny ones.

Hmmm...I have a HP Photosmart A520 Compact Photo Printer that I carry around with me to take and print photos as an add on for the events/birthday parties I conduct. You print directly from a memory stick or other portable storage. The ink isn't that costly at all...it's $19.99 and prints about 55-60 photos. I've actually gotten more than that but that's the avg the company says. I normally get the printer/paper value pack for $34.99 because it comes with 120shts of HP Advanced Photo Paper. As far as the printer itself goes I paid less than $100. I believe it was like $80. But I know it was definitely less than $100 because I was thinking of how much of a steal it was.

LOL!!! If I wouldn't still be on my honeymoon I just might do it!
Unfortunately I don't know anyone because what I do is make your own stuffed animal and spa/pampering parties with natural products. So I just have a little something extra to offer those that want to have pictures to keep.

I would ask people in your family and see if anyone has a digital camera with a photoprinter. They are really small and easy to take anywhere. If you have a young cousin or sibling that would love to take pictures- have them take them. Buy the paper and make sure you have ink- this could always work if the Poloroid thing doesn't happen.
