Cheaper to add beer & wine by consumption for brunch wedding?
I'm having a brunch wedding which includes champagne punch and coffee. If I want to add beer and wine then it's an extra $15pp, which is kind of steep I think. Do you think it would be cheaper to add it by consumption instead?

I think it depends on how much people drink. If you don't have a lot of big drinkers, a consumption bar might be the way to go. Sit down and figure out how much it will be by adding the $15/pp then compare that to what you think people will drink. I'm still trying to decide this for myself.

This might be just me, but I think I would forego the beer and wine all together for a brunch. If you're having champagne punch, then I think that's good. But that's just my opinion. Maybe start doing some math, like, how many people will be there, if EVERYONE drinks one beer and one glass of wine, how much would it cost by consumption, etc. It's not a science, but if you do it that way, and it adds up to relatively the same amount as the 15 pp extra, then I'd say add the 15pp.

I had an anniversary party in the afternoon for my parents and provided no alcohol-people who wanted to drink paid for their drinks. I've done some work functions and it always turns out cheaper to do a consumption bar.

The church I'm the reception in told me that I would have to pay extra for hard liquor. So beer and wine is fine for me. I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe instead of an open bar people will have to buy their own drinks and maybe even avoid you being responsible for them while they are under influences.

I manage a restaurant & it's never cheaper... People always assume iy will be b/c only 50% of the guest drink & it never is... That's my experience.. The drinkers usually drink alot, or people will order a drink put it down start talking to someone & forget about it... There have even been a few times where the bar bill was higher than the party bill
That party was a bridal shower too, the host was really shocked

Is there any way of cutting a deal with the hall and having only two or three signature drinks served..like mimosas and another brunchy kind of drink? Maybe they'll bend a bit and cut that 15 down if you only offer a certain drink alternative and anything else guests may want they are on their own!!
