all 167 invites are stuffed sealed and stamped all ready to go but I think it's to early to mail them what day should I stick them in the mail?

I mailed mine about a month before my rsvp date, people don't need longer than that

I mailed mine out 10 weeks before the wedding. I just wanted our OOTers to have enough time to make arrangements. I'm pretty sure none of them had at that point even though we sent out Save the Dates.
