Check this out and tell me what you think!

I wrote this up for my novice bridesmaids- my sisters and FSIL. None have them have been in a wedding besides they're parents second marriages, and somehow, I'm getting the idea that they have no clue what's going on! Please tell me if this sounds ok, and if I'm missing anything! I'll be giving this out at the bridesmaid party I'm throwing this month!
TIA!

PS- feel free to correct my grammer!

A Bridesmaid Survival Guide!

This is your first time being in a bridal party (that wasn’t for your parents!), and I wanted to make sure that if you had any questions, they were answered now! While reading this, you may have more, so don’t be afraid to ask me! Though I may be choosing things for you, and asking you to do things for me, I want you to know that you are my sister, and you will be an enormous part of the most special day in my life. So please know that any time you want to share an opinion or how you feel, you have my complete attention! If you’re not happy, I’m not happy! So open communication is key! While reading this, please don’t take it too seriously, this is supposed to be a fun day for everyone! This is just a simple guideline for you to keep in mind, and it will hopefully help you and prepare you!

What to Expect The Day of

The day of the wedding will be a hectic one for me, our parents, and of course the bridesmaids! Keep in mind that the day of is run on a tight schedule, but I will give you an itinerary when the time comes. (Margs- thanks for the idea!!!) Here’s what you can expect to happen, in no particular order:

? Your day will start early, especially if you’re getting your hair and makeup done
? You’ll need to allow time that day to get ready, and figure in travel
? You’ll meet with me wherever I’m dressing to help me, and then we’ll do our pictures!
? You must make sure you eat something, even if it’s small. And keep yourself hydrated! You’ll be busy all day, and you don’t want to pass out/feel sick/ or get too drunk. You will be in the spotlight as much as me!
? Pictures will be taken before and after the ceremony, as well as at the reception. Bring some makeup with you to touch up as needed.
? You may be nervous to walk down the aisle, especially in front of a lot of people you don’t know. But try to have fun, and always smile! You’ll do fine!
? If someone comes to you with any sort of problem during the day, please see Larz or the Bridal Coordinator. You don’t have to handle anything on your own, or come to me/Kenny.
? After the ceremony and pictures, we’ll be in our bridal suite. After they announce all of us at the reception, the night is yours! Dance, drink, eat, and have fun!

During The Months of Planning- What to Expect

Your Dress
In most weddings, the Bridesmaids/MOH purchase their own dress and shoes. Sometimes they have to purchase jewelry to match, or they can wear their own. We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it! I’ll be honest with you, being in a wedding can cost some money! You will be included in the bachlorette party, and a shower if given. Don’t feel like you have to give a certain amount in any situation, do what’s comfortable for you. I’m just happy that you’ll be there for me! The one thing I ask is that you save some money for your dress and shoes, a little at a time. If you can’t come up with the money for some reason, please call me, and we’ll talk about it privately. The first measurement will be a scheduled one, where you’ll try on a sample, to make sure that we’re all comfortable with the dresses chosen. They’ll call me when your dresses come in and it will be your responsibility to make a fitting appointment. You’ll need to bring shoes that are close to the height you’ll be wearing for the wedding, and appropriate bra/underwear. While being fitted, please tell the woman if you need it taken in or up, they aren’t mind readers! Make sure to read over your receipt, to be certain that they aren’t adding in something you didn’t ask for (i.e.: cups). Remember that you are paying for this, and they need to make you comfortable and happy! The second fitting should be the last. You will have your shoes by then, and the dress should be comfortable and fit well at this point. If it doesn’t, let the salon attendant know, and they’ll fix it for you. This is also on a time schedule, so please be sure to take care of it as soon as you know the dress is in. You don’t want to find out your dress doesn’t fit the day before the wedding!

Miscellaneous
Besides the dresses, there are many details that go into the planning. I may need your help sometimes, or just want your honest opinion on something. There are so many choices out there, but having a bridesmaid with you when you shop is not only fun but very helpful. So I may call you and ask you to come with me sometimes, and if you’re available, great! Big thanks to Kristen, she’s already done a lot with me! Thank you girl!
Aside from the Bachlorette party and Bridal Shower, there is also the Rehearsal Dinner. That is when we run through the ceremony, and figure out where we will stand. It’s usually held where the ceremony will take place the day or night before. After the rehearsal, we eat and relax!

I know I already mentioned open communication, and this is where that comes in. Mainly, I’ll contact you by email, that way I only have to say it once, and you can print it out if you need the info in it. So please check your emails as frequently as possible. And if I call you and leave a message, I know you are busy, but please try to contact me quickly, even if it’s just to say that you’ll call me back when it’s more convenient. I don’t expect you to drop everything for me, but please understand that this a responsibility as well an an honor, and I’m counting on you!

Thank you so much for being in my wedding! I’m so excited and honored that you said yes! I’m really looking forward to everything, I know we’ll have a lot of fun!

Thanks for this, I am sending it to my sister/MOH.
She's only 20, so she's more concerned about turning 21 then anything wedding related.

Am I the only one that thinks this is a bit much. I think my BMs would be offended if I gave them this. Does everything have to be by the book?? Is there no flexibility in wedding planning?

I agree but for the people who don't really know what there supposed to do it may help as long as you don't think they will take offense.

It may be bit much to expect all of that from your BP.

It definitely depends on age/financial status/location of the girls.
