child spacing

child spacing

how far apart do you plan to have your kids (if you plan on having more than one)

and if you already have 2, how far apart are they and were they planned that way? And why?

We just starting to discuss this and everyone elses opinion seems to be the farther apart the better - we disagree

I have 1 and Im due with my second - they will be 21 months apart. Right now it's definitely tough b/c he's a very active toddler who has no concept at all of Mommy's growing limitations. Having them so close together sure seemed like a good idea at the time

Truthfully, I think it will all be great in the end, I know lots of people who have spaced them closely, but it will be a long time before I get a chance to relax.

I don't know Elizabeth, are you sure that we will ever be able to relax?

I am aiming for either 2 or 3 years for the second one. However, I will take whatever is given to me and whenever it is given! We will either have two or four kids, but not sure until the time comes.

The closest in age to me (my sister) is 6 years older and then the other 5 siblings shoot up from there. I definitely think, from experience, that it is better to have them a little closer.

Ideally I'd like to have them 3 years apart...but my priority right now is owning a home first. So, who knows when #2 will come around?! Personally, I'm in NO hurry!

just lurking....
my parents had 4 kinds in just under 5 years...and i loved always having someone around when i was growing up. i know it was difficult for them having 4 kids who were all so young all at once, but the good part is that now we're all grown up together and they've been enjoying life on thier own now for quite some time. so they struggled at first, but now are living the good life!!
and for us, we always had a friend around. i like the idea of having them close together

Sounds just like me and my sis! We're 2 years and 9 months apart. We didn't really become close again until we both had babies...3 months apart!

Emma will be 2 years and 7 months when #2 is born. Im already trying to think how Im going to get out of the house with a toddler and infant in the middle of winter... oh well Ill do what I have to. #3 will probably come 1 1/2 after #2. I want to get all the kids done and out of the way.
