Children and Wedding Etiquette
being that there is so much discussion about wether or not to have or not have children at the wedding...this is what I found online. Pretty much it all comes down to personal preference
Are you unsure about whether to invite children to your wedding? The answer depends on your family dynamic, your personal preferences and your wedding style. There are positives and negatives to inviting children and wedding etiquette recommends that you keep some of the following points in mind.
If children are an integral part of your family dynamic, you'll probably want them to be a part of the celebration of your new life. With a gathering of family and friends, children typically add special meaning to your big day.
Additionally, you'll have wonderful memories and photos of the children having fun on the dance floor. Also, inviting children will afford you the opportunity to enjoy a nice reunion with those relatives and friends who also have kids.
Another bonus to having kids at the wedding is that if your fianc? has special children in their lives, having them be part of the wedding signifies that you understand the importance of his or her family.
To include children on your special day, you could hire a sitter to watch them during the ceremony. In addition, you should consider having a separate children's table at the reception with favors, crayons, coloring books and toys.
Does all this sound like too much work? You're not alone in your thinking. There are several downsides to having kids present at your wedding. For example, they can disrupt a serious, intimate ceremony. Additionally, when you want the focus to be on you, kids may steal the limelight.
But be aware, if you don't invite children, you will, in all likelihood, have to deal with guests who cannot attend due to lack of childcare or who may be upset because you didn't invite their children.
