children at the reception

okay...heres a situation i need help with. I am having my niece & nephew in my wedding party, and my FH will have his cousins 2 children at the wedding. Not in the party, but at the wedding. Now, I have a very large family and all my cousins have about 3 little kids each. So figure around 15-20 little kids. I didn't plan on inviting them to the wedding because there is just too many of them and it is so expensive. But i do want my niece & nephew and my FH's cousins 2 kids...How do I explain this to everyone? I dont want to feel weird at the wedding because their children arent invited, but theres 4 other kids there..Help!!!!!!!

The only children (young adults) coming to our wedding are those in the wedding party. We knew we would encounter a problem if we invited some kids and not others so we put the very close ones to us in the bridal party.

Same situation as Firegal. Two kids in our wedding party will be invited (FH's niece and nephew). No other children -- period. Once you start making acceptions for kids outside of the wedding party, I'm afraid it opens the floodgates!

The kids in the bridal party are easy to explain. The other 2 kids, well, its your wedding - why should you have to explaing them. but, if someone did ask you, then just say that those are the only children on his side and if you had all of yours it would be too many. People should understand.

I had my and husband's cousins' kids at the wedding - - ONLY family kids. Some people asked if I was having kids and I was honest with them, only our family kids because they are family. In terms of cost, we were charged 1/2 price for children between the ages of 5-14. If you fall under you minimum, they usually will throw the kids in there. We were 5 short (blackout - no flights from Toronto) so 10 of the 14 kids were covered.

I have to add: the kids were so well behaved and honored to be at a 'grown ups' party/wedding. It was beautiful having them around, slow dancing with each other. Precious.

We just did kids in the immediate family (which were 8 from 1yr - 10yrs old) No exceptions for any other kids. It worked out fine and I must say the kids were great. No problems at all and they had a great time

I definitly agree with the bridal party situation. I also plan to have only the children of my immediate family. If I invited all the children, there would be too many and so much confusion.

We have the same situation. They way that we are handling it is. The immediate family will be invited, including neices and nephews. Who happen to all be in the wedding party. NO SECOND COUSINS! There are just way too many of them in FH's family!
