Children at your wedding ceremony

Children at your wedding ceremony

I am curious on what is everyones thoughts about children under the age of 3 at your wedding ceremony. I have spoken to a couple of people who did not want any children at their ceremony/receiption and I am curious as to why. FH and I don't mind the children at our wedding we would actually be sad if they were not there.

i think for the actual church ceremony there isnt too much you can do to have people NOt bring them...but at the reception that is a deifferent story, you definatley can specify adult reception!

i had a 1 yr old that was my ring bearer...
child was fine... but the mother let him walk around during the ceremony and i hear him 'gah and bah' during my vows...

didnt ruin it but i didnt need an extra voice. i wonder if wild rose can edit that out

other then that, we didnt have anybody else under 5 there... the age cut off was like 7 or so

We're having children at the ceremony and reception.

The youngest are my bro's kids who will be 3 and almost 2 at the time of the wedding, my neice is FG.

Then there are some kids on my FI's side, he doesn't have much family left and since my side already takes up more than half the guest list I want him to have as many people as he can. FI's daughter will be 9 (jrBM) and will certainly be there!!!

Their parents will all be there to take care of the lil ones and bring them out if they become a disturbance. I'm not really worried, they're all good kids!!

Someone posted this back awhile ago.

I would prefer that their be no children, just because this is really an adult event. But that's me.

I think the reasons for this are far more complicated that you poll allows for.

The only children we are having are the ring bearer and flower girl. I think it is nice to have a night away from the kids (for their parents).

Our ceremony was in a church - there isn't much you can do to prevent people from bringing their children to the church. If I had a choice, I would say no, except the children in the bridal party. But there were children and babies at my ceremony anyway. And it really didn't bother me. *shrug*

I also agree with hocus in that your poll over simplifies the reasons for not wanting children at the ceremony.

I’m not having any kids at my wedding. and from what I have heard, the parents can't wait to have a night out without them.

our cousin's 2 yr olds daughter was screaming though 1/2 of my sister's wedding ceremony. so I decided right then and there that if I got married, no kids.

I didn't have children at my wedding and was glad for it. One couple brought their baby to the ceremony, but declined the invitation to the reception. Personally, I simply feel that weddings are adult affairs. It's not that I don't like kids, but I decided to have the parents let loose for one night--and boy, did they ever!

ETA We didnt' invite 'kids' of any age under 21.

Re: Children at your wedding ceremony

Our wedding is a formal Saturday night wedding. The children in the bridal party are staying through pictures and the cocktail hour. Arrangements have been made for them to be taken home after the cocktail hour is over. Their parents have expressed that they wish to have a good time and they won't be able to do so withtheir young children there. Had they not offered, I would have asked them to make such arrangements. Children who are 2, 3, and 4 years old shouldn't be up until 1 am anyway. Aside from children in the BP, there are no young children invited. It is not a child's party. All invited guests will be listed on the inside envelopes of te invitations. If anyone has an issue with my choice, they can call me directly.

We will not be having any children at the ceremony or reception (only the flower girl / ring bearer if we decide to put them in out wedding party) don't want to have the parents running around after them the entire night...they need a night out once in awhile...

We are having kids at both.. The FG and RB will both be about 6 at the time and the Junior BM will be 8. They are all invited to the reception too. I also have cousins who will be invited, they will be 11, 13, and 16 I think. So there are no really small children.

Im iffy on this subject...I of course want our son at our wedding...we also want my nephew and FH's niece....but we dont want all the other children in our family....so we included the 3 children we want there in our bridal party.
when we sent out the Save the dates we informed our families that we would only be inviting those children who we have asked to be in our bridal party to the reception.
most of the family is very agreeable...and they look forwad to a ngiht out without the kids.

We had some kids at our ceremony...they were all quiet except for one who started crying for his mommy when she was walking down the aisle (she was in the bp). Thankfully, someone took him outside...but you do hear it on the video and it's not a pleasant sound

FI's nieces and nephew will be there, as they are a part of the immediate family, but that is all.

Children came to our ceremony and all worked out.

We only had the ring bearer and jr. BM at the reception.
