children dilemma... need advice (sorta long)

first we wanted no kids because we didn't want my stepnephews (troublemakers) and FMIL's cousins kids (don't know em!) to come. But now the terrors parents aren't coming, and only one of FMIL's cousins is coming (others 'couldn't get a sitter').

the thing was, i was thinking that if the stepnephews parents didn't come then my stepniece could come. (shes 8). FH thinks that would cause problems with FMIL's cousins. (which i don't give a doodoo, this is my niece).

i'm going to discuss it with FH some more, but what do you think is the acceptable thing to do? should i just say niece can't come so the others don't get p i s s y??

I feel the same way about having kids at the wedding but I lost that argument. Well you can do a 8 years old and over wedding (works if no one is over that age but her). I am also a strong believer in this is you wedding and you need to do what you want to do! You can also do what my uncle did when I was young. I was the only child at the wedding because I was the only neice on my uncle's side.

That story sounds soooooo familiar. I have a bunch of lil terrors in my family that have been nothing but problems at every family function. But I also wanted the well behaved children such as my twin neice/nephew and 2 nephews on FI side of the family. The only thing we could think of was to put them in the bridal party and to invite the children that were in the bridal party to the reception. If you invite some children, and not others - it will cause problems once everyone gets a wind of it. Good luck, I know this is a tricky situation.

This is one of those no win situations. You can't please everyone no matter what you do.
