Children's magazine subscriptions..any recommendations?

I would love for the boys to read as much as possible and was thinking of finding a good magazie for them..I love getting my monthly magazines and figure it would be nice for them too..can anyone recommend anything? I thought about Kids Sports Illustrated, because they supposedly love sports, but honestly, I have never read the magazine myself, so I know nothing about it. Im not up to date with current kids magazines and was wondering if any parents out there prefer some over others. I know boys life is good, but geared towards boy scouts, and although I would love it if Biruk and Paulos are boy scouts, but they may have no interets what so ever in it. who knows. I wnat to ordre their subsrciptions soon, because they usually take a fea months before the magazines start coming! Thanks in advance!!!

Highlites is another good magazine. There are great puzzles, games and jokes in it that children love. If you call your local elementary school and ask the librarian. There are great magazines out there but for some reason I am drawing a blank on a lot of the names. I teach second grade and I know my students love highlites. The library at the school I work in has a lot of magazines. Doesn't hurt to ask. Hope that helps!

Those are all great suggestions. The Nick ones are so popular at our library. So are the Disney ones.

Highlites was awesome! I loved that mag when I was a kid.

How old are the boys again? There is so much amazing, excellent children's literature out there now- a lot more than when we were kids.

I know there's also Time for Kids, which my students like, but I don't know if you can only get class sets.

Try scholastic.com too.

i used to looooove ranger rick!!! and highlights! but are they going to school in september? if so, ask their teacher if he or she does the scholastic book clubs...those are so much fun for kids and there is such a variety of books to choose from and b/c they are monthly, it is like a subscription.

Thank you so much you guys for your great ideas!!! They will be starting school in September..and that is true..I forgot all about those book clubs through scholastic! I ahve already bought them a ton of books as it is, but I thought a subscription would be nice too. I need to quit buying everything I see...Im going broke. I just bought them nice dress pants, a shirt and a tie because Ill be staying at the Hilton and we want to take them to the sunday brunch. I was told that all of teh children had attended a wedding for one of the workers and the children were embarrassed because they didnt have nice shoes. Thats heart breaking. So ive been shopping today for more stuff.YEA!!
