Chiropractor - any recommendations?

Chiropractor - any recommendations?

I've been fighting really bad back and neck pain since January and have decided enough is enough. My FMIL recommended I see a chiropractor. Has anyone ever seen one? What do they do? Did it help? What did they charge? Does insurance cover it?

Any recommendations in the NYC area too would be great!!

Thanks!

I have a wonderful chiropractor I was going to for years. I was suffering from severe migrains and he was wonderful. If you want to know his info FM me. He is in Howard Beach

He would crack my back and my neck. I stopped going last year when I had my car accident.

Insurance does cover it, but it limits on how many times you can go. I was allowed 15 visits a year. any more I had to pay out of pocket.

Check with your insurance company on what they cover and how much of it

Meg, is that upper back pain and more muscle based? If so, I recommend gettig massages from physical therapist rather than chiropractor. I heard a bunch of bad stories about people who were worse off after chiropractors than before them.

If its a neck/shoulder pain, most likely its due to stress and you need to relax a bit. Have FH give you a massage

thanks alina...never thought it might make it worse!

it's weird - I'll wake up and hear a popping sound as I get out of bed and then my upper back & neck start KILLING me. It happened once 2 years ago and then again in January. Last time it went away, but this time it's been on and off for a few months now. We were in Chicago this weekend and the popping thing happened again, but more in my neck than my back.

Definitely going for a massage!!

I have been going since I was a child to a chiropractor on and off. In fact, I am in such need right now! Massage therapy and chiropractic are 2 different things. I will tell you that Yoga really helps me A LOT with my bad back.
