Hello ladies- Fellow 2013 bride here....no date yet, my fiance and i are open to dates and haven't booked a venue yet...we're in the final stages considering The Royalton Mansion at Roslyn Country Club, DeSeversky Mansion and Oheka. We love all three for different reasons. If anyone has been to a wedding at these places or knows anything, it would be much appreciated...what we liked/disliked:
royalton- loved the site, the menu and the flexibility/willingness to please...loved having the dinner and dancing in the same room, loved the inside of the mansion in case of bad weather and couldn't be outside, it just felt like being 'home'...also haven't read a bad review online
deseversky- loved the menu/package, get a small discount on food because of being an NYIT alumni, loved the outside grounds better then royalton, but the inside while beautiful and well kept, was a little more opulent then we expected...wasn't thrilled about the idea of dinner and dancing in separate rooms because of the size of my wedding and not sure how i feel about mansion style dining with continuous buffet
oheka- gorgeous grounds, beautiful inside and out, surprisingly most down to earth booking manager, forever my dream wedding venue, seemingly decent menu but not as extensive as others....rumor that the food is not very good???

Re: Choosing a Venue
congrats! I've never been to any of the three, but if I were an NYIT alum I would have booked DeSeversky. It was just too expensive for me :(

Re: Choosing a Venue
i haven't been to any of the venues but the dinner and dancing in separate rooms is less than desirable in my opinion. i went to a wedding like that once and i think the amount of people dancing was less because of it.
i haven't heard anything bad about the royalton.
oheka i have read some questionable reviews but i wonder if its just because the expectations are so high considering the price.
anyway, best of luck with your decision. i ultimately ended up picking a place to me that felt like 'home' too so i know what you mean. enjoy!
EDIT - also, maybe its just me but the weather (especially lately!) was something i refused to worry about on my wedding and did not center my venue around outdoor space.

Hi! I recently went to a wedding at the Royalton in July. It happened to rain that day so my friend had to take her pictures inside and they came out GORGEOUS! I loved the 'home' feeling of the Royalton as well ...with all the mantels u can display so many pictures and the small foyer is just simple and stunning. The food is to die for ...the steak was like slicing through butter ...one of the best wedding dinners i have ever had.
I CHOOSE THE ROYALTON :)

Re: Choosing a Venue
Congrats! My best friend got married at the Royalton (I was MOH) and it was absolutely beautiful. First off, you can get ready there in the suite and the guys have their own section/area to get ready so it's nice to have everyone in the same place. They were super attentive the whole time we were getting ready and had breakfast and lunch for us. The bridal attendant was fabulous and so sweet. The food was delicous - not just the CH but the main entrees! I believe that the vienese hour also comes included in the package. The area outside for pictures isn't huge but very pretty and enough to get great shots. I loved that it was hardwood floors throughout...I hate the carpets in RH's! The place had an awesome feel to it! Bride and Groom are able to stay in the bridal suite the night of the wedding if they like. I don't have a bad thing to say...it was fabulous!
