Choosing between 2 vendors....

Choosing between 2 vendors....

Saw Smithtown Landing Country Club and Thatched Cottage and love both....

Please give me feedback and opinions!!! I am leaning towards SLCC because of the vibe of the place, Rich's ability to make you feel special, and all of your reviews but I can not get Thatched Cottage's outside picturesque picture ops. Also SLCC's food selection and price are right on point.

What to do what to do.....any and all advice is welcomed!

we are having our wedding at smithtown landing. we love the place and all it has to offer. the grounds are beautiful for pictures and we did a food tasting and it was amazing. they are so wonderful to work with and the other girls on here who had their weddings didnt have one bad thing to day.

Are you having the ceremony there? If yes, are having it on the deck or under the tent with the golf course in the background?

we are having it at the church and the cocktail hour in bigger area overlooking the golf course then the reception in the ballroom.

I saw both venues, didn't choose either but def feel that Rich was awesome and really would make you feel special on that day hands down. You have only one event there at a time and can take pics all over the ground...Thatched Cottage outside is gorgeous but if you are having the ceremony there and it rains, the other 2 spots aren't as nice....AND the people that work there won't go as above and beyond as Rich will...SMITHTOWN LANDING I say!

I'm a SLCC bride and can't be happier with the choice. LOVE Rich, we went to make our second payment and he knew us both by name, he really goes out of his way to make you feel special. We did a tasting as well before we booked and the food was great. If you book within a week of looking at it they give you a dessert upgrade. We aren't sure where we are having our ceremony yet (there or a church) but we did decide if we do it there we're going to do it on the back deck (the one without the tent). We loved both spaces so much we had a hard time picking between the two.

Good luck in picking. I vote SLCC!!!!

Thank you girls!! Such a tough and important decision!

I also saw both. Rich is awesome at Smithtown Landing CC but the venue was not my style. I liked Thatched Cottage much more for the location and ambiance. Just my opinion although I do think Rich would be much better at ensuring everything went smoothly.

Go with the place you feel is the 'one' because there is no guarantee that this Rich guy will still be there the day of your wedding. He could resign or move to Alaska... you never can tell with people.

Haven't been to Smithtown Landing for a wedding but the Thatched Cottage has a really nice cocktail hour

I saw both venues and while Thatched Cottage was definitely beautiful, I got an AWFUL vibe from the people there.

It was so weird - almost as though we were bothering her and the minute we mentioned the word 'budget,' it was like she didn't even want us to book.

We saw Smithtown Landing and it wasn't JUST Rich that made us want to book (although he's a big reason), but EVERYONE there and the ambiance made it so welcoming. We felt comfortable with them, the food was amazing, the price was BEYOND reasonable and we felt we had so many options with them. if the weather cooperates, we could have our ceremony outside on the deck. Or, we could still have it outside under a tent. OR we could just move it inside. It was just really nice to know that it was important to SLCC to make the day special for us.

We're not looking for any extras, but to us their accommodating nature is the biggest perk.

It just comes down to what's most important to you, I think. Security, consistency, comfort and price were most important to us, which is why we booked with SLCC. :)

I saw both venues and I went with Smithtown Landing Country Club. The Thatched Cottage has some nice features, like second servings for dinner and a decent view for an outdoor ceremony, but the price difference was too great to make those other things worth it. Not to mention the unorganized staff at Thatched Cottage that made us wait almost 45 minutes after our appointment time to meet with someone. If budget is a concern but you still want to be treated with the utmost care, go with the Smithtown Landing Country Club.

You can ask SLCC for seconds. I'm sure they will add it in at no extra cost.

So I looked at Douglaston Manor today and I really like it. I think it beats out the other 2 right now. Ahhh don't know what to do!!

Douglaston Manor is very unique and looks beautiful.

Were the prices similar?

Very similar but the quality of the menu was definitely a little lower and the ceremony cost was definitely higher BUT DM was gorgeous and the ambiance is exactly what I was looking for.

It might be the one!!

We thought of having our reception there. I guess because it was in Queens, I just never made it out that far. (FH lives out east) I love the fireplace in the ballroom!!
