choosing vendors

choosing vendors

i have noticed a pattern when i choose my vendors, and i am not sure if this is correct or not. i look at 1 -3 and i am ready to decide. i get so tired of meeting with people that i just decide. not that i am settling i am happy about who i choose. i read the reviews on here and that also helps me as well. i was just wondering if anyone does this as well?

for example, i am meeting with high voltage tonite and i think i want to book them. i liked him that much on the phone and everyones reviews are great too.

As long as you are happy with who you are booking, that is all that matters. We only met with 2 florists and 2 dj before we booked. However when it came to the photographer and hall I think we saw everyone on long island!

BTW: we used high voltage too... vinny was great!

Re: choosing vendors

Other than the search for a reception hall (which looking at 4 in one day made me quite dizzy), I only looked at one of each vendor and booked. For our band, we have seen them out at bars and at other weddings so we knew which one we wanted, for our photographer, I based it on reviews from LI Weddings and a friend's testimonial, and the same for florist (Burton). I don't live on LI anymore so it was a lot easier.

For limos, we're planning on using Royalty because our friends had a good experience with them (and FH was in wedding party and enjoyed his experience).

ETA-As long as you are happy and they are within your desired price range, might as well book!!! This website is great for advice.

Re: choosing vendors

Vinny was the only DJ we met with - he's that good!!

As for other vendors, the only one we did 3 was videographers (all were recommended by brides). Florists = 14 (11 from bride recommendations), halls = 25 (I did this before I discovered this site), photographers = 7 (all from bride recommendations), DOC = 5 (3 were recommended by other brides, 2 were from posting on vendors board). Video was the last thing we did, and I felt at that point I had seen enough other vendors that I knew what I wanted as far as personality goes, it was a matter of product and price. That, and FH started crying over a stranger's wedding video at one videographer.

I knew I liked my photographer after meeting him and I had to go to many others just for FH benefit.... but I knew that I liked him!!!
