What is the normal gift to give?

Second what is the normal gift to give if you are the godparents and aunt/uncle??

This is my new hubbies family and I have never been a godparent before, I am clueless

I gave $250 to my Godson and a Bible and Cross.

I wanted to get a bond, but I ran out of time. Maybe you could consider that too.

When I was godmother I bought the Christening outfit, gave a bond and bought the baby a gold cross.

I believe (traditionally) you purchase the christening outfit - or give money towards their purchase. People also - in addition to - give the first cross and a bond.

We gave Matt's goddaughter a bond, her dress and a silver piggy bank from Things Remembered with silver and gold dollars in it along with some things for her room.

We just had FI's niece's Christening last Sunday and the Godparents gave the outfit (with accessories), cross and a savings bond.

ok so outfit, cross and money sounds like the concensus but how much money Obviously I know this varies but what is the norm? Same like for a wedding maybe?
