ChristineC68's Log

My goal is to lose at least 35 pounds, hopefully by the end of the year if not sooner. But my main goal is to get to a healthy weight and maintain it!

I have been following the atkins diet since 12/29/02. Except for one really bad day, I have been doing ok and lost about 4-5 pounds so far.

Food:
Breakfast - 2 slices 2% American Cheese
Lunch - 2 hot dogs, small salad
Dinner - ?? will update later.

Water so far - 3 cups. I need to drink more water!

I joined curves a while back and plan to return on Monday. I wanted to do my induction first then start exercising.

Christine, I wish you all the best on this quest. How is the Atkins diet?? there is a guy here that started it on Tuesday. How is it doing w/o carbs??? I could not do it at all. Exercise and eating right goes hand in hand. When you go back to eating normally??

Re: ChristineC68's Log

Thanks. I like Atkins. I have carbs, just healthier ones, you can have veggies and salads. And there are carbs in things like cheese, eggs and some processed meats.

I am a poster child for poor eating habits. I would normally eat a lot of fried foods, (french fries are my weakness), some sweets, no veggies, rarely a salad or fruit.

At least doing atkins I try to eat a salad everyday (which I never did). I am more aware of portions since I get filled up a quicker. I try to eat leaner meats and broil or grill them instead of frying them and I am experimenting with spices and condiments for variety.

By not eating a lot of the cr@p I used to, my diet IS healthier.

Thanks Cira!

Shamma, I'll post what I lose (# & inches), but not my actual weight or anything. I am too embarrassed to do that.

Re: ChristineC68's Log

Good luck Christine, I tried Atking, but I dont like meat too much, and I died w/o sugar, so I had to give it up But since you like it you'll be fine, my girlfriend lost like 30 pounds on it, and fairly quickly

Re: ChristineC68's Log

Thanks Shamma

Liz - it's not for everyone, but I enjoy meat more then other foods so it's not too bad.

Erica - I think atkins is nearly impossible if you don't really eat meat.

Journal/Log Update:
Friday dinner - omelette with cheese & bacon

Saturday
Breakfast - skipped ( I shouldn't do that)
Lunch - left over kielbasa
Dinner - London broil, salad, small piece of cake - We had company for dinner and they brought the cake.

Sunday
Breakfast - cheddar cheese slices and left over london broil
Dinner - hamburger

I was much better about drinkng water but I have plenty of room for improvement:)

Re: ChristineC68's Log

Laura - That is so great about your brother - he must look.feel great. I prefer meat to carbs (except for my beloved french fries ) so this isn't too bad as far as diets go.

To update my log:
Monday
(I was home sick so I picked all day)
2 slices of american cheese
1 cup of browned ground beef (approx)
one slice of LC cheesecake
1 - 1 1/2 cups of a beef/cheese casserole
small salad

I am getting much better with the water, I had approx. 7 or 8 cups of it yesterday. I still need to get better but I find I reach for water just as easily as I would a soda now.

Tuesday
B2 slices of cheese (see a trend? it's easy and travels well).

L 1 1/2 cups of the beef/cheese casserole

D Will probably be some sort of grilled chicken with garlic/lemon/wine sauce (if anyone has an easy recipe for this ) with a salad.

Re: ChristineC68's Log

Christine, I don't think I could do the Atkins at all. So how come I do not see any activity in there??? How large are your portions?? How many calories do you think you take in per day. I am with you on the water. I still have the same cup in front of me trying to sip away.

Re: ChristineC68's Log

Another question, when you eat an omlet since ther is no bread, do you just eat it like that??? I would miss bread and rice and potatoes so much. You are good

Re: ChristineC68's Log

I have been pretty sick for the past couple of days so I have been putting it off. Not that I was active before - I am an exercise phobe It's next on my list of getting a healthier lifestyle, hopefully by the end of the week.

I couldn't even guess how many calories I have in a day, I would have to track them in fit day or something like that.

I usually dont have side dishes except salad with dinner and or lunch.

I miss bread and potatoes, I never really ate pasta much, but I would miss something no matter what type of diet I was on. At least this way I'm not hungry.

I think you're good the way you are so devoted to working out. I envy the discpline.

Re: ChristineC68's Log

I just entered most of what I ate yesterday into fitday and it came up to 1285 calories plus the LC cheese cake I had during the day - say that's 200-300 calories. So in total I am looking at about 1500-1600 calories.

This is a real rough estimate since I didn't measure my foods.
