Christmas

Christmas

Everyone seems so excited for Christmas...

I really wish I was.. I've been meaning to vent on this for while but just really couldnt come to terms with it.

This year, my parents got divorced, the house I grew up in was sold to the most awful people in the world (not to mention my parents were so awful to each other that my sister and I were left to clean out the house we grew up in), and I lost my grandfather, and my uncle. All of this on top of being in medical school and planning a wedding.

I know the wedding is exciting, and so is Christmas, but I just can't get into the spirit... I just feel broken.

Sorry to put this on all of you right before xmas, I just honestly don't have anyone else to talk to.

so sorry to hear about all of these things

this is the perfect time to look at all the positives in your life and really embrace them: friends and FH, etc

Keep your head up!

Ugh, I am so sorry to hear all of that. If possible, try to concentrate on FH, your upcoming marriage and the wonderful life the two of you will have.

Re: Christmas

i'm so sorry to hear all of that

it sounds so much like the past 2 years i've had - my parents divorced, they sold the house i grew up in, and can't even be civil to each other. my sister and i were left to clean out the attic this past july...while my parents screamed at each other on the front lawn. plus it was hard to think about the fact that i was making the same commitment that my parents were getting ready to break. my grandma passed away last september, too. it always seems like everything is thrown at you at once.

this christmas i'm actually doing a lot better than last year. things have settled down a little bit, and we're all finding a new 'normal' - just know that it gets better. it's a lot to handle at once, but you'll get through it! whenever i was feeling down about everything, i would try to focus on the fact that at least i had a teammate to lean on - having FH helped a lot, but it's a really tough thing to go through regardless. if you need anyone to talk to, FM me.

Im so sorry to hear all that you are going thru. Im sure this wont help much but I always remind myself that everything happens for a reason... Things will always work themeslves out the way they are meant to. I know its hard but try to stay positive and be happy for the things you have in your life right now.. like your FH and that you are getting married! <3

i completely agree, michelle. it's so hard to stay focused on that when things are going wrong, but it does provide some comfort.

Re: Christmas

I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this.

My parents divorced not too long ago and sold my childhood home as well. It has been so hard for my brother and I to get use to the holidays as they are now. Christmas was always such an amazing time for us growing up, so this big of a change really set us back.

The one thing that helped me was starting my own traditions in my home. It has helped a lot. Now for Christmas I have Christmas Eve at my home with my moms side of the family, and I have Christmas Day with my Dads. It makes things a lot more tolerable.

I can't say it gets easier, but it gets there. Just talk when you need to, and cry when you need to.

Merry Christmas Sweets.

Re: Christmas

I am sooo sorry hon. It is definitely a tough time of year when you are dealing with loss and turmoil.

Pacie, who also replied, and I have talked about our fathers and losing them during this special time in our lives...and I know most of you know that my father just suddenly fell ill wirth a blod clot and now he is in a moderate coma. My mom and I are devastated and when we sit with him every day we just hope that he comes out of it.

It is sad, the worst feeling in the world and know that there are many of us on this board that understand how are you are feeling. I feel the same way Christmas just doesn't have the magic that it once held for me...it was slapped with reality...

I say all of this to say that we are here with you and we will be with you and you go through this. Reach out to us whenever you need because we will be a listening ear. Love you!
