Since my wedding is December 27th, I decided to go with the Christmas theme, which is great because i absolutely LOVE Christmas!! However, I've been constantly going back & forth with ideas for the centerpieces. I'd REALLY like to stay away from doing anything like flowers or candles because it seems that everybody does that. That's so not me and FH's style. We hate doing what is 'expected'. And we both would really like to stay within that Christmas theme!
I was thinking of maybe doing a snowglobe kinda deal. The one I liked, i had found on Disneyshopping.com and it's a Precious Moments musical globe of Cinderella and Prince Charming, playing the song 'Someday my prince will come'. It's all decked out for Christmas too. It's very nice, but kinda small for a centerpiece (and too expensive to give as favors).
The other idea I had was maybe doing a miniature Christmas Town on each table. I figured i could get away with making this not too expensive by getting one of those mirrors usually used for ice in christmas villages, sprayed with 'snow'. Then glue on a nice figurine of a groom and his bride (or a man proposing) with a christmas tree close by. But I haven't done a trial of it and I REALLY don't want it to look cheap!
My other idea was maybe a miniature Christmas tree on each table with a set of Turtle Doves being the only ornament on it.
People keep telling me to do Poinsettias, but I found out that the hall is gonna be full of 'em already for the Holiday. Others keep telling me to do some kind of Christmas Cookie deal, but I'd rather not do that because there is already gonna be trays upon trays of cookies provided for the guests. So it might be overkill.
My other concern is that the tables are fitting 12 people each. I believe their rectangular, instead of circles so I'm wondering if I should have something tall that stands out, rather than something that becomes lost on such a large table.
What do ya think? Any suggestions would be useful.

Re: Christmas Centerpieces... help!
Mine is somewhat Christmas themed as well. I was originally going to do little christmas trees as the centerpieces.. I think thats really cute, or what about gingerbread houses, and one guest at each table can take one home.

Re: Christmas Centerpieces... help!
what about something like this? i love the xmas village idea....usually walmart or cvs has ceramic villages starting in october that you could buy 2-3 houses and make a mini village at each table? or if you can find wooden sleds you can fill them with colored xmas balls from the dollarstore.
the christmas tree shops are gonna be your best friend to find stuff!!! theres on opening on Deer Park Ave. opening this fall!
I'm doing a tall flower centerpiece with holly and berry's in the vase, cream roses and either red roses or red calla lillies with holly mixed throughout.
I know you want un-traditional centerpieces so here are a few links to threads that might give you ideas for it:
I love your idea of doing aminiture Christmas town!!
Also try looking at the bride's review section..there are quite a few brides that had Dec. weddings.

i love this one! we were going to do something like this until we decided that the reception was going to be different than xmas
what about ornaments in interesting vases? Maybe a larger taller one, and then some smaller ones to fill it out? Like this kind of idea?
Or something like this....

THANK YOU GUYS SOOO MUCH! Those suggestions were really helpful. Those of you who sent pictures, they're gorgeous. I'm just wondering where you found 'em. What was the website?
And, bluekat16, it was lovely to find my date twin . haha. Looks like we'll each be getting married within only an hour of each other. Good luck with everything.

It's going to be a beautiful day for us
I found a website while looking through a birde's review.
We are getting married the day after Thanksgiving and our RH is going to be decorated for Christmas. We are going to have Poinsetta Centerpieces. They are going to be 4red and 1white(in the center of the white) in a white ceramic vase. Sorry I don't have pics, my meeting with the florist is in Mid September.
