Christmas eve or Christmas day???

Which is a bigger day for your families??

Mine is Christmas eve. We all go to my fathers side of the family (which is Italian and pretty big). We eats LOTS....all of the the traditional fishs and much, much more...it's like 6 courses . Christmas day is more layed back..open presents and eat some more (not as much).

Re: Christmas eve or Christmas day???

Betty same here! My dad's family is Italian too! Christmas Eve is 'bigger' in the sense of party! But Christmas Day seems like it is a little more because that's the day FH and I share between our families. My mom's side celebrates Christmas Day and so does his family. (Works out well that he is NOT Italian )

Re: Christmas eve or Christmas day???

When I was little we would do Christmas Eve with the whole family (grandmas and aunts, etc) and then Christmas morning we would open the presents from SANTA and then I would go to my dad's house for Christmas Day and do it all over again. (Parents are divorced)

Now, we do Christmas Eve at my mom's family and Christmas Day at FH's mom's family, and I stop by my dad's for dessert after dinner on Christmas and his dad lives in FL so we don't see him. We do miss a few get togethers we would like to go to though but there is only so many places we can be at a time!!!! His uncle does a nice Christmas Eve thing, but then we wouldn't see my family.

It is hard when we both have divorced parents, so there are really 4 families we need to see!!!!

Re: Christmas eve or Christmas day???

I agree, it's hard with divorced families. My parents are divorced so we go with my dad Christmas eve and my mom and FHs mom (his day died) on Christmas day. This year it's a big screwey b/c my mom is going to see my brother in Calif (couldn't come home this yr) so it will be a very small Christmas day

Re: Christmas eve or Christmas day???

Christmas Eve was always at my parents house...like 30 people (now I am taking over ) then Christmas Day was at my Aunt and Uncle's house. Both are really big days for us...but it seems by Christmas Day we are really tired of eating!! LOL

Re: Christmas eve or Christmas day???

I got extremely luck with FI's family. His family goes all out on Xmas eve, mine on Xmas day. It works out perfectly when separating the holidays!!

I remember Xmas eve being a somewhat big deal when I was little. My polish grandma would go all out. Now that she's older and can't get around as well, my parent's host it, and it's just not the same.

I am very twisted this year... I am a brat I know it..

Anyway. For the past 25 yrs I had the EVE with my family (no matter who I was with) moring with Mom and Dad and then the day with their family..

Last year we spent both with my family bc Ronnie didn't speak to his..

Now... We have to spend the EVE With his 65 people UGH! and the day with Mine. And they are italian but don't go nuts with Fish.. I am so upset....

Atleast the bro's gf isn't comming.. He has someoen else to bring!!

Re: Christmas eve or Christmas day???

Both - luckily, it works out for us too. Since my father passed away, my immediate family and I have celebrated Christmas on Christmas eve - it's nicer to do something new.....we exchange all our gifts then. I love the new tradition!

On Christmas day, we spend it with my family - which works out well since my family is very close and we always get together. DH's family mostly lives out of state so he comes with me
