When I called in Nov 05, I was LAUGHED AT because my wedding was too far away for them....I was told to call back in June 06. I REFUSE TO WAIT til June 06 when I NEED the 5pm ceremony time, on a very popular wedding date! (The night after Thanksgiving.)
I called back today, and was told, 'Oh no problem, we can book into 08 now!' WHAT?!?!
BUT - I have to speak with a priest before they'll even tell me if my date is available.....Which will probably be sometime next week, because the priests are away for the weekend.

Re: Church
they laughed at me too when I booked in March 05 for June 07. The Deacon thought we were crazy!! I wanted to secure the day and spot at the church I wanted.

Re: Church
I don't understand why the church is so difficult. I have seen so many posts especially on the 07 boards regarding churches being so hard to deal with. Can anyone explain this too me?

Re: Church
I have NO IDEA!!
This church is our home parish.
FH and I have both received all sacraments there. My parents were married there 25 years ago, FH's sis was married there, and plenty more....
I NEED THE 5PM ceremony!!!!! My CH starts at 8pm - I don't want a 3pm ceremony, and a 8pm CH!

Re: Church
I'm STILL having issues with my church! They want me to call back in July. So what are people supposed to do if they're getting married in Jan 07?! It's really ridiculous and I've always envisioned myself getting married at my church since my parents were married there and I had all of my sacraments there, but they're really giving me all the incentive in the world to NOT get married there!!!

Re: Church
When I booked mine they did not have the 07 book. I do need to call back to ensure I still have the date and time.

Re: Church
I booked my church in Nov. 2005 for Nov. 2007. The priest told me that they did not have the 2007 calendar yet but he put it in the back of the 2006 book. We already have our second meeting booked with him for Feb. 20th to go over pre-cana and to hand in our birth certificates. Once 2007 hits, I defintley will be calling to make sure he put me in the 2007 book.
Good Luck w/your church.

Re: Church
I am so sorry about what happened! That must be so frustrating. Did you speak to the same person?? We booked December 07 back in the end of November 05 and we didn't have a problem. But sometimes you just never know who you are dealing with. I hope everything from here on in goes smoothly with the church for you!!

Re: Church
When I called to book my church the priest was super nice and told me he would put us down to hold the date even though FI and I wouldn't be in town until July to submit our paper work. It was all just a little too easy and now I am totally paranoid that they will get it wrong!

Re: Church
They told me it was too early as well, I have a popular date as well and these people dont understand you have to base evrything on this date's availability.

Re: Church
You would think that with all the problems the church is having these days that they would be falling over you guys to help you. After my first wedding I applied for an annulment and was told that it was almost 4,000.00. I was blown away. I told them that I was not paying that kind of money just so they could tell me that I can come back to church. I was not paying for my religion. I was brought up catholic and could not believe it. So now my ceremony is being done in the Hall and I'm fine with that. Good luck with your church. They should really help out a little more.

Re: Church
You guys also have to think that sometimes they do not like to plan that far in advance because there is a chance the priest will no longer be with that parish-
they fear that you will have been told something by one priest and if the priest changes it may effect what you were told.
