I got a quote of $1200 from a church for the ceremony. What do you think?
Do you have some protestant (evangelical) lovely church recommendations?

Re: Church
Wow I felt I was paying a lot and I am paying $600.00 + $150 for music + $200 for precana. $1200 just for the church is a lot. I dont know any protestant churches but I would google the area you are looking in. I am sure you can find a cheaper church! Good Luck!

Re: Church
$1200 seems to be a lot!!
We are paying $700 for a mass/ceremony in a Roman Catholic Church
It is a historical building. I love the church, because it's very sweet and it's very close to the CH.
I am getting for the price of $1200: the church, their pastor to officiate (their pastor had to oversee it, but I could bring another pastor to do the preaching), linen aisle runner, candles and a person to oversee it (a kind of wedding coordinator for the ceremony).
I am not a member of the church, so probably they charge me this high.
What do you think girls... is this still too high?

Re: Church
The chapel i picked out is charging about 900 but they gave us a deal. There was a community church that i looked at charged 500 w/out an officiant and without a rehearsal. In the end it was a little less than what we are paying now.
I think 1200 is a bit steep just for the church. I would seriously keep looking lol

it is a bit high, but again, you are not a member of the parish, so that is why they are charging you more because you are possibly holding a date or time that a parishoner wanted, a parishoner who's family has probably been tithing to that church for years.
Also, i may get flamed for this, but this is THE most important part of your day and the Church NEEDS donations to run. i have to say i was a little disheartened to read that you would not get married in a Church just because of the price. you can not put a dollar amount on getting married in Church, JMO.

Re: Church
????? I never said that I will not get married in the church because of the price.....
In fact the church ceremony is very very very important to me. I am just wondering about the price. It seems somewhat high to me, but my FI says adding all the extra things (officiant, a kind of wedding coordinator, aisle runner, candles, rehearsal) it's should be okay.
I don't live in NYC and my FI's church is very big... too big for the numbers of people we will be inviting. And his church is a landmark... doesn't really have a church-look.
