well i caled my 1st choice and after being rudly snubbed off by the secretary i decided im not waitig for the pastor to call me back so i called the church i played sports for and did my communion and conformation at.... well he told me he would pencil my day in but since im 'way ahead' he asked me to call him back in May 09 also told me church would have to start at 3pm and wouldnt finish til about 4 by the time we are done with pix and siging the cert it will be about 445 which means ill have 1 hr if im lucky to take pics at WM before my CH....
well 1st Q is this normal that i now have to call him bak in may 09?? also he told me he wasnt sure of the fees since they just changed them and i would know when we met..sooooo i basically wont know the fee till may 09?
2nd Q if i do end up going with this church u think ill have enough time inbetween to take pix at WM?

i am not getting married at a church but I think there is more history for you in the church you are going to get married in.
As for having enough time it seems kind of short to me. I am going to make sure I have about two hours. I do not want to rush anything.

yes it is normal to have to call back in may 09. churchs only book a year in advance, which mean you can book for may 2010 in may 2009.
you are getting married on a sunday correct?? the earliest they can give you is 3:00?? my friend had her wedding at WM & the grounds are beautiful so you really should utilize being able to take pictures there

that is the time Im doing mass. Most they usually dont have mass earlier than that especially on a sunday because of morning masses (usually 9:30 and then a 11) and then the earlier mass is scheduled for baptisms (1-2pm). So that means you are pretty much stuck with 3. However I worked a deal with my pastor that if there are no baptisms that day he will let me know months before and I can push the time up. If it does remain at 3 I plan to be out of church by 4:45 for my 6 PM CH so I am in a similar situation. I am not planning on attending my CH so I will be ok. However you might just be a lil late to your CH. Calling back in may 09 sounds right since Offical church books open about a year in advance.

and they said the earliest they have at church is 3pm since its sunday masses in the am and 2pm is baptism.... so i guess im screwed... and pretty much need to rush... i REFUSE to see FH b4 wedding to take pix
this really blows though i wish i had alot more time i wanted to go by a bridge or somewhere and take pix

wanted to add that my church only does a 330 wedding on sundays and that is it...so be happy you will at least have it starting at 3.

I'm not getting married at the church, but my pastor who I want to officiate the ceremony penciled the date in for us and told us to call him back next july to go over more details. We will have to do pre marital counseling about 4-5 months before our wedding (which for some reason i'm extremely excited about...FH not quite so..lol).

yeah Im feeling a little pressed for time too. When I go to the bridal showcase at WM Im going to ask my BM what are the chances of pushing the start time back an hour because I want to take pictures in the CH room b4 people get there and that wont happen if it starts at 6. I am the later wedding so I dont see why that should be a problem but who knows

when my parents renewed their vows they called the church that they originally got married in 4 times and the pastor NEVER got back and each time she called the receptionist was a beast. They ended up just doing it at FH parish (where we will be getting married) and while there the pastor who both FH and I are close to said he was surprised they never called back but said maybe it was due to our inactivity in they church and I was like ARE YOU KIDDING!! Isnt church for everyone regardless if you put an envelope in every week and he said yes...but some parishes base their availability on that factor...and that ladies is why we are getting married at FH church and not mine. PS my parents called in a complaint to the pastor and SURPRISE! he never got back to that either

isnt that a bunch of garbage. I bet 90% of the time the pastor is actually there but they make you leave your name to check your record...atleast at that church! HINT HINT maybe this is the reason my parents and I became inactive at that church

I want to be able to attend my cocktail hour, so FH and I decided we are only going to do a ceremony and not the full mass, which should only take us a 1/2 hour. Then we will have about 2 hours to take pics at the church, go to the RH and take pics there, before our CH starts. Hopefully this plan will work!

call in january to make sure they move you into the 2010 book. they forgot to move my cousin in & she had to go to the priest hysterical crying in order for them to fix their mistake.
