Church

So we decided on getting married at a church instead of the hall so now we are a little backwards in the process. Is there any pointers anyone can give me regarding the St. Joseph's church in babylon? i need to go check it out but have no idea the questions I need to ask or any of that. Please help!!

Church is pretty cut and dry they usaully tell you everything that you can and mostly cant do. Like can you through rice or petals or bird seed. You'll need to see what times they have available. If you want a particular priest or Decon to marry you , you'll need to request it. ( if not you may want to make sure the priest speaks english since a lot of them now a days have very thick accents)

Are either of you members of that parish? If not, you'll need both your baptismal certificates and possibly a letter from your church giving the okay for you to get married elsewhere. You'll also need to complete pre-cana and sometimes FOCCUS.

Thank you for your help!! I figured that is pretty easy! The only thing is my FH hasn't received his communion so I think that makes things a little more difficult. I'm not a member of the church but I plan on it. Life just happened and I haven't really gone in awhile.. I know sounds terrible...

I use to be a member of the OLPH church in lindenhurst but for personal reasons I do not want to get married there. I don't want to bad mouth a church but I wasn't to thrilled with the way it was run there years ago.

I'm getting married at St. Joseps in Ronk. and FH only has made his communion the priest there said that was fine just that he could not be anyones godfather. and also that to be married there one of us had to belong to that church

Don't worry- I'm not really a practicing Catholic so I know how it goes. And since I'm not a big fan of my childhood church, we're getting married in a different church. But they've been extremely nice and welcoming so far!

I think as long as one of you has completed all their sacraments it's okay! Good luck!

Yeah I'm more spiritual then religious. I don't believe you need to empty out yOur bank acct to a church to be a good Catholic. Just my personal opinion!! I understand a church needs money to run the facility but then it just becomes a business. I know that God would not want me to go broke to pay to be a member of a church especially in this rough economy. I have done good by him believe me. I have earned my wings in more ways than 1. My FH is already the godfather to his nephew and he was baptised in a church so I don't know how they tell you that you can't. I really want to release butterflies once we are outside. I hope they let us do that bc that is one of my must haves-- i have always wanted that since i was young!!! Oh and possibly doves!!
