So I was pretty worried about finding a church that would marry me & FH.. There's a beautiful one close by but I am not a regular and worried that they don't allow 'outsiders'.. Plus FH has to do a couple of sacraments.. and my date is on a Sunday, which some churches reserve only for Mass..
Wellllll.. I looked at the beautiful one close by and did a little research on wonderful LiWeddings and they let outsiders come in as well as do Sunday ceremonies!!!! St. Patrick's in Bay Shore.. I'm so excited...!!!!!
Do you think it's too early to call them?

Re: Church!!
Def call now :) The Catholic church wants you in their book before you even look at RH haha so it's important to call in advance. It's funny because I had to divert from the Catholic Church because FH isn't baptized and they gave us a hard time (well my personal church, I know if I went to another one they wouldn't but I decided to just go to the Methodist church knowing I wouldn't be disappointed again) and the Methodist Church was like WOW! You are calling so far in advance. It's amazing how different places work.
The catholic church will bring you in relatively quickly for a meeting with the priest as well to make sure he will marry you and yadda yadda.
Good Luck! And Congrats on finding a church. I actually found that more stressful than finding the RH after my church gave me a hard time!

Re: Church!!
I would call them now. I know my church has there 2013 book already. But even before they had there book they just took our information down and put it in the back of the 2012 book. We have to go back in Jan/Feb though to schedule pre-cana and stuff though.

Re: Church!!
So I called and am so nervous!!! I made an appointment with Deacon Joe for 12pm on Sunday.. does anyone know what kinds of things he'll ask? We live together so will that prevent anything?
FH has to do the adult classes on Wed Nights from 7-10 and go to mass every Sunday at 9:30.. He's gonna be so excited!

This! Don't tell the church you booked you rh, they want you to 'ask them for their permission first'

Re: Church!!
They will ask questions like are you related, do you believe in raising your children catholic, are you here on your own free will... stuff like that!
Did the church say he has to get his sacraments? FH is not communioned or confirmed and our church is allowing us to get married there -they only require baptism. ... Just thought I'd save you guys some time!

Yes, you should call now because it may also take a while for a priest to get back to you. I had a little difficulty getting in touch with the priest at my church. He was always out.
