Church booked multiple weddings

Church booked multiple weddings

My wedding is booked for 1:30 at a church. We are doing a full mass with a receiving line and have 32 people in our wedding party (some are kids so it might take a while for everyone to walk up and down the aisle). Our church just booked another wedding that starts at 3. That leaves us no time for pics at church and basically we have to leave right after. I am frustrated because now I feel like I have to rush and leave right after the wedding. Anyone else dealing with the same time constraints? Is this time frame normal?

i think most churches book weddings 1.5 hours apart. if you're having a full mass, you will probably be done within an hour and if the pics at church are really important to you, maybe you should nix the receiving line idea and do it at the RH instead?

ITA. Our church did the same. There was a 3:30 ceremony before our 5:00 PM ceremony. There was no sign of them at the church when I got there and no one else mentioned that they saw another wedding when they arrived. The only thing they left was the floral arrangements on the altar. Thanks other wedding!

Can you ask the church if they would be willing to change your time to 1:00?

We checked with church to make sure there were no other weddings before we got the invites printed and they said we were the only wedding that day. We called them a few weeks later to ask about rehearsal and that is when they told us they booked another wedding. at this point invites are printed and they said the church won't move the other wedding to 3:30.

Great I am getting married there too and was thinking of pushing my 1:30 till 2:00. I can't believe they said yes and then said no. Maybe nix the receiving line.

Who is marrying you there?

if you can nix the receiving line to give way for photo-time, it'd be better...

that's such a tight schedule tho!

My Mass is at 3pm and we invited 307 people. We decided not to do a receiving line. Althought there is no other wedding after ours, our church has 5pm Mass on Saturday evenings. We will have very limited time for pictures.

Definitely move the receiving line to the reception!

Def. nix the receiving line...they are outdated anyway. I recommend using your CH for that so you can take your pix at the church AND enjoy the reception....could be worse though, my church double booked the EXACT same time (2:30pm) and when I called to set up an appointment to meet with the priest/deacon, I was told, 'Oh well we got their check to hold the date first, so they have that time now. Sorry.' Did I mention I had booked the date a year before them?!?!

The priest's solution- 'We can do your mass at 11am, and your guests can go to your parents for lunch before heading to the reception.' Ummm, ***?!?! My parents house can't hold 200 people and we are already feeding them dinner.....I BEGGED them to move me to 2pm and the other person to 3pm and I would even do a ceremony instead....no such luck!

That's what we did-i really wanted the photos so we didn't do the receiving line. With a bp of 32 i would def consider that.

My church double booked my time slot and we by chance found out at pre-cana 2 weeks ago. We were both able to move our times slightly but there's not a lot of wiggle room. I'm figuring I'm only taking pictures w/ our immediate family inside the church. It'll be a lot quicker than assembling all the family and all the BP after the receiving line.

I say you take your time. It's not your fault they double booked. It will work out in the end.

I would be shocked if they let you move it up just in case there is another wedding that day.. I can't see them giving up the money for that and they seemed pretty set on their times when we met wtih them.

We ended up changing our date so we didn't have to be rushed out of church after the mass and are pretty much skipping the pics outside for the most part since we are getting married in January.. it stinks but I didn't want to worry about having to leave and skipping the receiving line

I hate skipping the receiving line too. I feel like people went out of there way to make it to the church (which is no where near the reception) the least I could do is take the time to thank them. I'm just going to have to rush and maybe just take pics with immediate families in the church and have a group pic with bridal party as we come out of the church.
