for those girls getting married on sundays and at a catholic church, what time did u have ur ceremony? we're thinking we want a day wedding, but i'm just concerned about when we would do the ceremony. Also if anyone got married at st raphael's in east meadow or st brigid's in westbury can u please share how much of 'donation' u had to pay, the cost of pre cana and the cost of ceremony music? TIA I really appreciate it.

Re: Church Ceremony Questions
most churches have a set time they will give marriage ceremonies on Saturday's and Sunday's. It's best to contact them before and find this out before you signa contract with a RH.

Re: Church Ceremony Questions
Most day weddings are on 11:00 Am, some have 1:00 PM weddings on Saturdays. I am having an 11:00 AM Mass on A Saturday.
Donation costs vary by church, Mine is $450.00 which includes the cost of the musicians. Some churches are more, but most average around $500.00. Pre-Cana varies anywhere from $50.00 to $300 depending upon your parish and whether you do it through the parish or the diocese (which is a weekend retreat that costs more). Some churches charge additional for musicians, but many include it in the donation.
most churches on LI require that you, or your FH or one set of parents are resident parishoners in the church you wish to marry.

Re: Church Ceremony Questions
we're thinking of getting married at a church. is it unrealistic to think one of our churches has availability still for a sunday next august? I have a feeling they're both going to be booked. Also will they tell me that information over the phone?

We booked our church in Fen '05 for a Sept. '06 wedding and NO ONE had booked for 2006 as of that time and to this day, we are the only wedding at our church on our day.

Re: Church Ceremony Questions
i got married at St. Brigids in Westbury and the 'suggested donation' was $550 which included the $200 for the organist and singer. Pre cana cost $50.
They have specifically set times for weddings. On Fridays it's 3pm or 5pm. I dont know the specific times on Saturdays but its before 5pm because they have a Mass that starts then. I believe on Sunday it's after 4pm because of the Haitian Mass at 3pm but definitely call to double check. Adrianna is the wedding director for the Church but she's only in the office on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. You could still book for next August. They only require that you book 6 months in advance but i booked 18 months in advance so i made doubly sure my date was available. Call them asap to confirm. 516.334.0021 and push 0 for the operator and then tell her you need Adrianna. HTH!

Unless you get married at the RH it may be a likely problem. Saturday's are more flexible as it is not a holy day.

Re: Church Ceremony Questions
My church has their last Sunday mass at 11:30am... that's usually over by 12:15/12:20pm.
And then we're in for our ceremony at 1pm. (actually, our ceremony musicians will start to play at 12:30, and we're putting 12:45 on our invitation). The Florist will be there at 12:15 to set up as soon as the priest leaves the mass!
St. Edward's is my church, and I found them to be VERY workable and flexible with everything.

You are lucky..
My florist has to be there at 12 and be out of there by 1 and they can't put the toole on the pues...
FH and groomsmen have to put them on when they get there at 2:00

My church will do weddings for non parishoners...they just have to pay more. I think that churches will do it, it will just be more expensive. I am getting married at St. Pat's in Bay Shore, but their earliest Sunday time is 1. If you can find a church that will marry you earlier you should check to see if they will marry those outside the parish. They prob will if you tell them you will continue to go there.

Re: Church Ceremony Questions
We had a Sunday night wedding. We got married at St. Agnes in Rockville Centre and our church time was 3pm. Then our wedding was from 6-11pm at the Watermill in Smithtown.

Re: Church Ceremony Questions
Churches will not marry you in the morning on a Sunday; most churches have Masses from about 8 AM - 1PM. Many churches will marry you in the afternoon, usually after 2 PM. Most do Sunday weddings at 3 or 3:30... some restrict it to a ceremony only so that it will not run close to 5 PM Mass on a Sunday evening.
