Church Ceremony Readings

Question.....do the readings I choose for my church ceremony have to be from the Bible??? Can I do a regular poem or book excerpt???

Neither of us are very religious, and we're doing the church ceremony for our moms which is fine...but i'm not a fan of the bible readings, but I do want some sort of reading

Thanks!

Re: Church Ceremony Readings

If you are getting married in a Catholic church, the readings need to be from the bible.

Re: Church Ceremony Readings

when you go to pre-cana you will get a ceremony book. In it its broken down in categories, such as first reading and all the readings. For each category you will have lots of choices to pick from, which really comes in handy. They also have song choices and everything you need to know. This is how we picked our readings, which is easier than going through the bible to pick one

Re: Church Ceremony Readings

my sister just picked her readings.... the first one sounds strange but when you read the explaination, its really beautiful. her second reading is the 'love is kind, love is patient' it is so gorgeous and isn't TOO religious.

Re: Church Ceremony Readings

we belong to a Christian church.. I'm not sure if it's going to be included in a book we get at counseling.. We're going to look through the Bible and pick a couple of our favorite readings. There's so many to choose from....

Re: Church Ceremony Readings

Yea, I don't know which ones we are picking either...but def. not the 'love is patient, love is kind' because EVERYTIME I hear it, I think of the movie Wedding Crashers!! LOL!!! That's the last thing I need to think about at my wedding lol!!! I am just going to go with beautiful sayings and about loving eachother and becoming one
