Does anyone have any good ideas on how to decorate the church without using flowers or using as few as possible. I'd really like to keep my floral budget pretty much just for bo-ks and grooms men, etc. Gonna do my own CPs.. so i was wondering what other ways i could dress up the alter and pews ( not a big fan of just the pew bows.. id like to add a little something extra) Here's a pic of the inside of my church. It is beautiful..outside and in reminds me of a cathedral .. but still want to make it feel like me and fh..need the romance to be flowing! lol
well i am not doing altar flowers for my church ~ they are super expensive and I dont feel like I will see them!
So I ordered two round wreaths for our church doors and they will be hanging from a ribbon to match our wedding colors (espesso brown)
Then we are having a tulle drapping down the center isle with a pew bow on top ~ in the tulle drapping there will be our accent color (aqua rose petals) and I will have a isle runner in our wedding colors Ivory runner with Espesso brown and tiffany blue (aqua)
I will try to find pictures to show you... so you get the idea!
Picture: isle runner same as this one but with our names, date and espresso brown and tiffany blue
Church wreath idea: Ours will be in the same colors in our bouquets - ivory and champagne color roses and carnations...
Found a couple of pictures of the tulle draping mine are alittle different but you will get the idea.. the way mine will swag she is putting rose petals in the drop part....

I LOVED the idea as soon as I saw it ~ I wanted something different & I just thought it was so pretty - plus my church is very old looking and dark so I thought this would brighten it up...

I felt like my church was beautiful enough as is (and so is yours!), so all I did was satin pew bows on the first 10 pews...and it looked beautiful

When you do the tulle all the way down the pews... how do you seat everybody? They have to go down the side aisles? I love the look of the tulle I just don't know if I like the idea of everyone going down the side aisle to get to the pews.

your church is gorgeous...it doesn't even need decor! If it's dark, you can do candles....i've seen people hang candle lanterns from the pews (instead of flowers).

I bought pew bows 12 in a box @ Michaels w coupon. I then bought some silk flowers with multi sprays on them in colors to complement my bridal party and twisted them into the bows. They look very pretty and give a little color. bows were $20 and another $9 for about 12 stems. HTH

thank you.. i got very lucky because it was an easy choice. When I graduated Grammer school i knew it was where i was goingt to get married.. it's very old, very beautiful and very big. it's size is part of the reason i want to decorate though.. it holds 800 people.. our guest list is about 170 and i know not all of them will be at the church.. it's a reallllly long aisle so i dont want it to feel to empty because of its size.. i just hate to spend money on flowers when we will be tehre for like 45 minutes!!

we lucked out with our wedding being in december because of the holiday.....the church was decorated SO beautifully....but honestly, if u have a nice enough church, i dont think u need much. Our church was very traditional and while yes there were wreaths in the windows and such - we just had the aisle majorly strewn with rosepetals, and the aisles tied off with tool. it was so minimal, SO inexpensice, and looked so pretty :) Sometimes less IS more! here's a few pics....u can also see a TON in our review if u'd like to take a look for some more ideas - Our December Wedding Review!!!! ps: definetly ask the church about how the church will look for the holidays...i see you're in november so it may be possible that they have some stuff up for thanksgiving or something...
oh & yea, when the inner isle is roped off they are seated through the sides. It worked out great for us because we had our runner put down early because of all the petals.....we also had the beginning of the aisle(where u would normaly enter) tied off loosely with tool, and right before the processional started we untied it(or u can just cut it) this way noone walked down it before the bridal party....we just had the ushers escort them down the side isles. worked out great!
