Church girls who were the first of two ceremonies of the day...

Church girls who were the first of two ceremonies of the day...

So I just found out with 3 weeks left, that after a year and a half of thinking that we were the only wedding ceremony scheduled for our day at the church, that there is one now scheduled for 5:00 after our 3:00 ceremony. Super! This church doesn't do a whole lot of weddings, if there's 15 for the year that's considered a busy year, so naturally one would be immediately after mine

So FMIL tells me this yesterday, and says that now we're not going to be able to take pictures at the church after because we're going to get thrown out immediately after so they can set up the next wedding.

Um, hell to the NO.

The timeline is 3-4 for the ceremony, then a receiving line, we didn't think we'd be done with that and pictures until 5:00. Now I think we have to scrap the receiving line (and incur the wrath of the family for being 'rude' in order to have time for pictures.

Was anyone else in a position like this where there was another ceremony right after yours? How did it work out logistically, and were you rushed?

Not for nothing, but I'm really bothered by this. As it is it's already going to be pitch black by the time we're done with the ceremony so we're not going to get a whole lot of pictures anyways, and now we might not even get pictures in the church. I just feel like it's all starting to unravel

Would taking pics before the ceremony be an option for you?

Well, the way the timeline is right now we don't even have time before the ceremony to take pics, but regardless of that, we're way too traditional to do that. So not a feasible option for us. I know then it's like I can't piss and moan about it if I'm unwilling to compromise, but it still s/ucks.

I really don't want to start off married life with a throw down at the church

Im kindof on the same boat as you, our wedding is at 3 and they have a 5 pm mass so we may not be able to take any pictures at the church after if anyone has any ideas (not having a receiving line would not be an option) I would love to hear them.

is it a ceremony or mass? i had a ceremony that started at 3 and we were outta there well before 5. the ceremony was 40 min tops. our receiving line seemed to never end, but we were able to go back in and take a bunch of pics quickly. I don't know if there was a wedding after mine, so i don't know if that's why we weren't rushed out.

talk to your photog, i'm sure he's had tight timelines to work with before. there's got to be a way to get all of the amazing pics you want quickly!! good luck and i hope that the receiving line moves quickly for u!!

my wedding was at 2:30 and there was another wedding at 4. My mass ended at 3:30, we took quick family shots in the church, then took quick portraits of us, walked out, had the receiving line and as the next wedding limo pulled up, we started to rap it up. I think you can do it, you might have to limit yourself to how many pictures to take.

It's a Greek Orthodox ceremony, so it's about 45 minutes to an hour. There's just one length, it's not like Catholic where we could choose to do a ceremony or full mass. So really all depends on how quickly the priest talks haha. So 3:00-4:00 unfortunately is a really accurate time frame. I know my photog is good with tight time frames, we did our enagement shoot in 25 minutes, but I really don't like that now that's probably all we have for our church pictures.

Ours was 2:30 and there was a 5pm (coincidently the wedding of the kid I married many times during dress up in nursery school)

We didn't feel rushed at all. We had our receiving line which was HUGE, we had more people at the church then the reception, and then we took tons of pics outside the church, though we didn't take any in the church. I don't know if we could have done that. Also we had a ceremony not a mass, so that gave us more time.

I think it will be fine. Your photographer can actually rush along the receiving line a bit and if your parents and FILs are in the receiving line with you WARN them to move it along quickly.

According to my photographer - 20 minutes for a receiving line is plenty - do the coming out of the church shot and then go back in for quick pictures.

We have a 3 pm ceremony and there's a 5 pm mass and my photographer told me not to stress at all.

This makes me feel a little better...I'm probably not going to have much more than 60-70 people at the church (but really, who knows, we still have so many outstanding to tell)...but they're all really chatty so we'll have to hustle them along. Definitely going to talk to my photog about this. It was just so nice with my sister's wedding where there was nothing going on afterwards and we weren't rushed at all.

Don't panic. My wedding was last January at 3pm-4pm we had a full mass. We had a receiving line also. We still were able to get some photos outside the church with some light after the mass. You really don't need to take that many photos inside, b/c they will be taking them during the ceremony. Just talk to the photographer about your concern. Mine was awesome, and helped everything run smoothly. And just be thankful that your the first bride.

I'm glad you feel a little bit better. Truthfully though, it will be fine. My photographer said he and his assistant are really good at pushing people through the receiving line.

Just tell the parents - NO TALKING to everyone. A quick hello and move it on out!
