Hi girls! I hope you can help me. My friend is getting married at East Wind in May 2008. She is currently searching for a church. Her problem is, she is originally from Queens and belonged to a church there. She recently moved to Nassau county. She also wants to take photos at Old Westbury Gardens IF POSSIBLE. She i strying to find a church in Nassau or suffolk county that will allow her to get married there even though she is not a member. She has even asked to join a church and everyone is just so nasty to her.
Please let me know of any churches on Long island that welcome new members to get married there. Has anyone else had this problem??

What is her religion? If Catholic I think St. Aidan's in Williston Park would be a good option. Its not far from Westbury Gardens and is a beautiful church.

you can try Holy Spirit Church in New Hyde Park, About 15 minutes from Westbury. My friend got married there she wasn't even Catholic AND both her and her husband weren't a memeber. I can't believe they are so nasty. Holy Spirit they were nice, Good Luck

I just went today and had to register...there gave me this whole lecture about how you shouldnt leave your parish and you should get married where you had your sacraments blah blah blah....and then I was getting upset and Sister Mary came and helped me and told me that the priest I was talking to was a stickler and that he was retiring in September of this year and she said that they will welcome me with open arms.... this was the hardest thing for me I was so nervous to go and then the priest I thought wasn't going to allow it. Tell her to keep looking I found a church in Hicksville because Im having my reception at Westbury Manor.
