I am getting married in Baiting Hollow...but most of my family lives in Nassau. My mom thinks I should have the ceremony at a church in Nassau. She thinks if I do it near the RH...no one will show up to the church b/c of the gap between ceremony and reception. Is anyone having asimilar issue? I dont know what to do. I also live in Suffolk...not far from RH...so dont know what's the ideal situation.

Re: Church Location
I agree with your mom. More people will come to the church because they won't have to come ready and can go home after the ceromony to get ready for the reception. But if you don't care about a lot of people at the church than it doesn't matter.

Re: Church Location
My Church is in Nassau County (Seaford) and the reception is in Suffolk. Since we have a big gap in between the two, we planned on having our families back at our houses while we are off taking pictures before the reception.

My church is in Seaford too!
...I also think that you should book a church in Nassau, only because if i was a guest, i would hate to drive all the way out east for the ceremony and then drive back to wait out the gap (or just hang around) only to drive back again.

I'll probably do that. I assumed most people would stay at a hotel...b/c they wont want to drive that far after a night of partying....but that's probably just my friends...the older people will go home

Re: Church Location
Thats a tough one. Personally I think the drive from Nassau to Baiting Hollow is very far. I heard rule of thumb is no more than 45mins between church and RH. Would you consider getting married at your RH?? How long is the gap?? If you do not live far from the RH, maybe your parents can accomodate people at your place if you do a church near there. I don't know just an idea.
