Were getting married in St. Patrick's of Bay Shore on Friday we met with the priest and he informed us that the church doesn't allow Runners, or the flower girl to throw petals.... Has anyone ever heard of a church not allowing either of those?

yes... our church not allow either.
Some churches don't allow the runner because it's a hazard (someone may trip and fall on it and they don't want to be responsible).
The flower petals is due to the fact that they don't want their aisle to possibly get messed up by the flowers (it may stain it) or just the clean up afterwards.

Our church does not allow either. The priest we met with said he would let us use the petals and he would sweep afterward.

Our church doesnt allow runner or petals either ... Same thing with throwing things outside from my understanding! All about liability!

Personally I'm not a huge fan of aisle runners, so this wouldn't bother me. But there has to be a super cute alternative for your flower girls. What about giving them those balls that are made out of flowers or something like that.

Were still going to get a flower basket and have a bouquet made to fit the basket it would be easier for her to carry she will be 2 at the time of the wedding. I just thought she would look so cute throwing the petals onto the floor.......

this is what i did, and it looked adorable, everyone thought the basket came out beautifully.

you know, i'm not sure if our church allows this or not?
i just called my church and we are allowed to have both, as long as the FG throws the petals on the runner

some churches dont allow it.. my church allows the runners but they dont allow the petals because it stains the floors??? I jut said ok didnt even bother to ask

My church will allow my flower girl to throw petals if someone cleans it up after the ceremony... Im not even going to bother.
I like the bouquet in the basket idea!

Yea mine wont let that either. My FSIL got married at St. Pats in Smithtown last year. They are VERY strict. Just make sure you make known what you want. The lady was a biatch about the order people were walking down the aisle! She was crazy! But my FSIL doesn't really stand up for herself so this woman walked all over her. Just be upfront with them about what you want.

What about the silk petals? I know some churches let it slide as long as they're not real so the color wont ruin the carpets, as for the sweeping them up idk how that works. hth a little.
