Re: church problems
You could take some classes and make your conformation before the wedding if you wanted to.

Re: church problems
We're getting married at St. Brigid's in Westbury and neither of us are members of the parish. I'm not even Catholic but they're ok with us getting married there being that FI was baptized/made his confirmation (at another church by the way).

Re: church problems
I didn't receive my confirmation and my DH did. We were married at his parish in Howard Beach and they didn't give us a problem although most churches are strict when it comes to that, I guess we were lucky

Re: church problems
Our Lady Of Lourdes in West Islip is flexible from what I hear. That may be too far from you since it's 53 off the LIE and far south. We had tons of church problems and got discouraged, but try not to let it get you too down. There are places out there that are less strict. Look for newer parishes - the old churches are usually the ones with stricter rules.

I'm getting married at St Francis de Sales in Patchogue and me and FH are not members. I also know that St Patrick's in Smithtown will marry non-members. Good luck!

Re: church problems
I thought from other post that you can marry in a church as long as one of you are confirmed and the other is at least baptized, christian or jewish. We've all seen the the rabbi priest weddings. I would go to the catholic webpages and find any loop holes. If that fails they have priest who can marry you outside the church. Or you could be married by a judge and in the future you could have a private cermony in a church.

Re: church problems
I think on the official website for the New York Dicoses it says that only one of you has to be a Catholic to get married in a church. If this is the case, I would bring this to the Church's attention.

Not always true... My cousin couldn't get married at my church and she offered to give them a lot more money then the 'donation'.
