I am wondering for those that did not choose a church that you grew up in (since I moved to NY when I was 7 I never really went to church, we tried a couple but didn't like any) how did you choose the church you would get married in???
Getting married in a church is important to me, but I am just unsure how to go about picking it, and wondering how everyone else chose.
Did you base it on closeness to reception hall, close to your house, a church you heard good things about etc etc.???

Re: Church question
Not sure...my FH's family is close with a church, so we are using that.

Re: Church question
I didn't belong to a church either. We picked one that was pretty, and close to the house and we also went to a few masses before we made our appt. to make sure we liked the way the church was run.

Re: Church question
I went to Catholic elementary school so I am going to the church of that school. Its close to my house and is where I received all of my sacraments (except baptism).
If that wasnt the case, i would choose one that is close to the reception and is nice looking

Re: Church question
i would choose one close to where you live (or where u are getting ready in the morning) and go to a few masses before hand to make sure you like their style.

Re: Church question
I don't like the church I grew up in so we picked the church where my sis went to middle school. We liked them so much we also held my dad's funeral mass there. It helps that it's beautiful too!

well i wanted to get married at a church with Stairs that was my requirement ... FH is lutheran didnt make his communion or confimation and honestly resally doesntbelievei n god .. so i figured catholic church was out ... so i starte to look for lutheran churhces but none of them have the stairs i was looking for ... i looked at a church were my friend is getting married at and i fell in love with it and its catholic ... make this story go quick i ended up booking htere last night ... its close to my house and the RH ... but i most warn you catholic churches require yo to be a member of that church to get married there and some may give you a problem ... at first i had a problem but hten i called the deacon and he got me able to get married there !!! ...hth

Re: Church question
We chose FH's church. It's right near my house too. We always go there for Xmas eve and easter anyways. But I really wanted to get married there cause it's beautiful there and the aisle is so long!!!
