I have a silly question. I'm only having a ceremony , not a mass. With a ceremony do they do readings or only for the mass? I'm sorry but I'm so confused with this. Also does anyone know with a ceremony if I can do a candle lighting?

We only had the ceremony and still had 2 readings. If you want them I am sure the church will let you do them. HTH!!

We are only doing a ceremony too. We are having reading and thats it. You can do a candel lighting but we are not. Its up to you!

I think the only difference is that you aren't receiving the Ecurist (definitely spelled wrong).

Yes there are still 2 readings....we are also having someone special read the prayer of the faithful....so we need 3 readers
ETA: and yes, you can still do the unity candle!

Yes, there are 2 readings and the Gospel read by the priest/deacon. Also, you have the Prayer of the Faithful in case you have someone else you want to include in your wedding. We had a unity candle at our ceremony.

Similar to what has been posted...but the only difference between a ceremony and a Mass is that there is no Liturgy of the Eucharist... which is the crux of the Mass and the faith, so when there is no Mass. it is just a ceremony.
With a ceremony you will have:
Old Testament Reading Responsorial Psalm New testament Reading Gospel reading (done by priest or deacon ONLY!) Prayer of the Faithful (petitions that are read) Rite of Marriage (vows and blessing of rings)
After the rite of marriage, you can opt to do the unity candle and/or bringing flowers to Mary (a custom popular by many European Catholics)
Closing blessing and Recessional

Yes you have 2 readings-old testament and new testament and they will allow you to do the unity candle lighting.
We had a ceremony and did the lighting-just go over the order of events for the ceremony with your priest so youknow what will be going on

I a having a ceremony as well. They do have readings. Once you go through Pre Cana they will go over it all with you...dont worry
