My FH and I are meeting with the priest soon, at a parish near the RH (not our home parish). Just wondering is there a contract for the church, or some other paperwork confirming your date and time? Or do they just say they'll put you in the book?
THANKS!!

Re: Church Question
i had a paper that we had to each have 2 people who knew us separately sign stating that we had never been married before and that we were not related. it didn't have to be notarized. but i know we are in the book because they called me to start pre cana tomorrow night.

Re: Church Question
ok i think i'm going to have to say that this varies by church. we went to 2 churches and both asked us the same set of questions- if we were married before, if our parents are catholic, if we are getting married on our own free will etc...
he then asked us for our date and he said it was open, told us to book pre cana, took a deposit and that was it!

Purpose of the marriage to have kids???? Are you kidding? When I get married I will be close to 50... we are not having children!!!

Re: Church Question
My priest asked us if we had any physical impediments that would restrict us from performing the 'marital act'
i thought that was the most interesting question/wording of a question ive ever heard!!!

I had to sign the same papers, but we did have to get them notarized. This is for Queens.
Pre-Cana and your church have nothing to do with each other. Just because you are registered for Pre-Cana does not mean your church date is secure. I am registered for Pre-Cana but my church date is not secured yet.

i'm getting married by a family friend who is a priest and in order for him to marry me at the church i grew up in, he had to have permission from the pastor, so i know i'm in the book.
