Did anyone book the Reception Hall before the Church?? Im alittle worried because we are having a problem securing the date (they say we are too early) and had already lost two dates at CLM...so we booked the RH.,...Has anyone else had this problem with the church and if so.....have you looked into other churchs or waited it out??

Re: Church Question
No, last winter we booked our church after the RH, and that was about 1.5 years in advance to our original 2010 date. I guess every church is different. I would think that they should be happy that you are trying to book so far in advance. I was told by someone who's brother is a priest that you shouldn't tell the priest that you booked anything before the church. Because church should be the most important aspect of the wedding and should be booked first. But all us modern brides know that the RH should be booked first due to the dates booking up so fast. Good luck!!!

Re: Church Question
I booked the church first and I boooked last January which was 2 years before the wedding. Each church is diffrent but they should be able to book your wedding by now.

Re: Church Question
I booked the RH first. Then I had trouble getting an appointment with the church. But I finally got an appointment and the date worked out. Don't stress.

Re: Church Question
We booked the RH first. I figured there are a million churches we could have used but only one Fox Hollow.

Re: Church Question
i booked the RH first (2 yrs & 2 months in advance) I met with the church 2 months later and it wasn't an issue...I wasn't too worried about them not having my date since it was so far in advance. Would the church be able to pencil your date in and then you can officially book it when they're ready? Or just ask them when they will accept bookings - if you can't book, no one else can either, so as long as you call when they first start taking 2011 dates, you should be ok
But like someone else said, dont let the church know you booked the hall first!
good luck!

Re: Church Question
We booked the RH first because we knew the date wouldn't last, we tried to book the church first but they kept telling us they didn't have a book yet for 2011... sooo, not my problem, tough boogies.
We didn't necessarily TELL them that though, when he asked where we told him we wanted Russo's on the Bay.... he alluded to the fact though that he knows it's crazy trying to book the venues though, they fill up so fast, so IT hink he woulda been cool with it, but we played it safe.

Re: Church Question
Yea definitely don't tell the church you booked the RH first. The church doesn't understand how fast RHs get booked! You need over a year in advance here on long island. We are nuts on this island!

Re: Church Question
Thanks so much for the info girls:) that makes me feel sooo much better.....we asked the church if they could put a note at the end of 2010's book and unfortunately they said that doesnt happen ...but that was back in November...This is my FH's Catholic church from childhood and I was so paranoid that since Im Lutheran they were being difficult... ....but Im persistent ...so maybe ill try asking them to put a note in the back of the book again! (possibly using tears lol)...Thanks Again :)

Re: Church Question
we booked the RH in August of last year and we just booked the church a few weeks ago. We wanted to lock in the prices for the RH when we could and our church didn't have the '2011 book' until the beginning of this year.

Re: Church Question
You are supposed to book the church first only because they want to make sure you dont have any impediments to marriage. If you don't an d the date is available at church, you should be ok
