we are having a ceremony...we have one reading (Love is patient one)...Do we need to have two readings from the Bible? I would like to do the hand ceremony reading or a poem instead. Do you think they would go for that???
Did anyone/is anyone only doing one reading plus the gospel?

if its a mass, they usually want one from the old testy and one from the new.

If you are roman catholic I'm pretty sure you need to have two readings, one from the old testament and one from the new testament

Mine is a ceremony in a Catholic church and we have 2 readings (old testament & new), the gospel, and we incorporated the unity candle.

We had just a ceremony. We had two readings, a gospel, and the prayer of the faithful. Oh and we also devoted flowers to the virgin mary.

Our Priest told us that the only difference between a Ceremony & a full Mass is that a Ceremony has no Communion. Everything else remains the same.

yeah i'm pretty sure it's required. but if you want a poem added, see if you can incorporate it into the unity candle ceremony (if you're doing that).
the unity candle really added something to our ceremony mass. highly recommend it.

we did that too. u have to have the two readings and the gospel.. so you can add something but you cant subtract a reading. we had our moms light the two candles on the alter and then hand them to us

My church handed me a booklet with serveral choice for 3 different reading and i had to choose from there. Same thing with the music.
