Church Question
My future brother in law and his girlfriend just got engaged over the weekend. Does anyone know if there are specific rules for getting married in a church? Do both people need all their sacraments completed?

As far as I know, only one person in the couple has to have completed all their sacraments.
my understanding is only one has to make all the sacraments but then it can only be a ceremony not a full mass. not sure if thats true but thats my understanding.
I agree with everyone most church's just make you agree to raise children catholic.
FH isn't Catholic and we're getting married in a church. As others have said, you can as long as you agree to raise your children Catholic. As for a mass vs. a ceremony, our church didn't say anything about that, and actually assumed I was having a mass until I told them I'd prefer just a ceremony, so I think that's fine also. You just may want to consider that it will be a bit awkward if you're up there receiving the sacraments and your FH can't, so for that reason, I'd definitely suggest just a ceremony.
From my understanding, so long as the other person's religion isn't completely different (I know they wouldn't allow a Jewish/catholic interfaith couple to marry in the church) then it's no big deal. You just have to agree that you will raise your children catholic and follow catholic traditions.
Thank you so much ladies! I will let them know.
Yes, they do. Once they book the church, they'll ask that both people bring a copy of their received sacraments to the church - this confirms that they've received baptism, communion, confirmation and that it's the first time they're being married in a church...at least that's how it was done in my church.
