Re: Church-Reception lag time dilemma

people will figure it out - no worries
my hall has a lounge where people can go for drinks and some snacks. . . maybe you can arrange a hospitality hour for your early guests?

honestly, FH and I have always just entertained ourselves for the time in between - dont stress about it. . .its one day and the people who want to come to both will figure it out

I'm hoping a lot of people come to the ceremony too. But, hey, it might not happen. I'm sure the people that are most important to you and your FH will be there.

My RH has coffe, tea, softdrinks and cookies in the lobby for anyone that gets there early. Also, we asked all family to come early to take pics at the RH so we can get that done with, so most of them will just go straight from church to Rh.

i wouldnt worry to much because the people who want to be at your wedding will make it to the ceremony and entertain themselves inbetween no matter the length of time.

does your rh offer early arrival? i know my hall has a room set aside so people can go there in between and wait for cocktail hour and theyll be given drinks, coffee, tea, cookies etc, and if theres a large number that arrive early, theyre going to start the cocktail hour early. maybe you could look into that if youre worried

Re: Church-Reception lag time dilemma

My church is right around the block from my house so we might try to plan for people to kill time there. It hasn't been decided yet. We have plenty of time.

Church is 2-3:00.
CH is 6:30 but the RH a 30 min. drive away from the church. So that leaves 2 hours in between...

Well how long is your lag time bet church and reception? My church is at 2 and CH is at 6, but im the bride so it will pass by soo quickly for me, lol. Guests could go home to freshen up or arrive at the RH early for drinks. When I had to wait for my friends wedd, I went for coffee.

My mom is thinking of having one of my aunts host a get together at my parents' house in the meantime (since it's 3 min from the church)....but everyone will figure it out!

i was in MrsDaniRellas wedding in sept. and both sets of parents hosted a little get together at their homes for their families and friends between the wedding and reception! they had some sandwiches catered and told ppl to come back to their homes and enjoy an hour or two of time -- before they had to go to the reception. i thought this was a nice idea!

other than that--i wouldn't worry too much about it--ppl can entertain themselves and wil figure it out! maybe suggest a bar near the RH?

I was worried about this also and not sure what time to set my cocktail hour b/c of it. The ladies on here advised me that people are used to having a chunk of time between the ceremony and the reception, and will either find something to do, or just go to the RH early. I plan to call my RH to ask them if they have a room for any early arrivals, also.

wow I didn't realize that other people have even more lag time than me! My church is right across the RH, literally, I guess people can stay at St. Patrick's to watch the other wedding after us

I guess i shouldn't be stressing about this ... but i find myself stressing about EVERYTHING!!!

Re: Church-Reception lag time dilemma

well ... GREAT news -- i asked FH to negotiate with RH so we don't get charged and he did a great job -- we just found out now that they would move the time 1 hour earlier WITHOUT extra charges! (they previously said they may charge) ...

we tried to change our ceremony from 3pm to 4pm but St. Patrick's is soooooooooooo difficult!! So now we're stuck at 3pm and our CH was not supposed to start until 6pm -- we were able to move it 5pm now
