Church times

Church times

Well, My FH and I just met with the Deacon from my church to book our wedding date. Unfortunately, the choices for times were 11am, 130pm, and 3pm.. Our wedding reception starts at 1230pm.. We wanted to have a simple ceremony and when i asked how long it would be he told me 45 minutes to an hour... thats not including pictures, receiving line and god forbid we run late. Is anyone else having problems with scheduling the church and the reception? Any advice would be greatly appreciated because im freaking out... thanks sooo much for listening to me vent!

i had the exact same problem with the church time! we wanted to have our ceremony at 10am...but they told us, well, 'if there is a funeral that day youwill have to be bumped up'....which they obviously woiuldnt find out till like that week, maybe even day before....so basically all our guests would be there at 10 and have to wait for the funeral to end before going in. they said there was nothing they could do about it.....soooo....we ended uo having to switch our reception date in order to allow us to have enough time between church and reception (originally our reception was at 12:30)......but now it is at 1:30 and we just decided to have our church at 11. there was nothing else we could do..... we couldnt afford a night wedding, so this was our decision. it is a tough decision. changing our date alone upped the price of our RH, since we had to bump it up to May (may receptions start later b/c it gets darker later) that is an option though....just changing the date. or asking RH if they can start the coctail hour a little later. (our RH was unable to start much later so that is why we had to change the date)

i know rough right....and it is such a sensitive subject with them. i guess they couldnt make an acceptio n b/c if people always booked weddings early on saturdays then they would not be able to hold funerals....anyone else have this problem ever?

I spoke with the Church...and the earliest they could let me start was 10:45... in case there was a funeral MAss at 10 AM. I understand that... you don't plan funeral s in advacne like you do a wedding and a grieving fmaily needs the church when they need it. I was tight on time though because I am having a FULL mass and my cocktail hour strts at 1. Prelude will start at 100:30 AM if there is no funeral and I will walk down the aisle and 10:45 AM. If there is a funeral, prelude will be 10:45ish and I will walk down at 11:00. I will call the church about 2 days before and see whether or not there is a funeral.

Re: Church times

my church is dead set on the times. they will not change them - they said to plan the hall around the church, not the other way around
