Church Vent!! (long)
I've been having SO many problems with our church it's ridiculous. First our original priest was scheduled for vacation during our wedding so we had to switch priests. Fine, not a big deal. Except that the priest we're supposed to have now is on vacation and not coming back until the monday before our wedding. They wanted us to wait until then to pick readings. I said no. It took three weeks of left voicemails and messages for someone to call me back. Finally the Monsignor agreed to meet with us LAST WEEK to pick weddings. Fine. We won't meet with our priest at all - a stranger will be performing our ceremony.
Then we tried to schedule a meeting with the organist to pick the music. He was also on vacation for a month. Great. So now our meeting with him is scheduled for one week before the wedding. No big deal I'll just wait to print my programs. Except that we have our own cantor, a friend of mine. We told this to both the initial priest and the Monsignor and both said it was fine. The organist said no. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I'm still paying you the same amount of money - what is the big deal. The guy has cantored weddings before.
FH said after this wedding we're joining a different parish. I am so incredibly frustrated with them. The church has BY FAR been the most stressful and frustrating part of this entire planning process.
