I am going to my first church wedding reception on Saturday. There is a 4 hour time span between the ceremony and the reception. I am coming from Westchester to Long Island and do not want to wear my wedding attire the entire time. Is it ok for me to wear something casual to the church and then change for the reception?
Thanks!

Re: Church wedding ceremony
If there is a big span in between many people usually wear something more casual to the church but I personally wouldn't wear jeans or sweats but that is JMO.

Thanks! I was not thinking jeans at all. For my husband I was thinking nice kahkis and a button down shirt and for me a pair of pants with a nice sleeveless shirt.

If you're planning on wearing an evening dress to the reception, than I think wear a more 'daytime' dress would be fine for church, otherwise I'd wear whatever you're wearing to the reception to church-no khakis or anything like that.

I usually just up. I think it's rude when people show up in jeans(not that your planning on doing that!)

Re: Church wedding ceremony
I went to a wedding last year where there was a huge time span between. I dressed up and was so uncomfortable. A lot of people didnt dress up. They wore nice pants and a top or skirt, casual clothes. To be honest, wear what your going to be comfortable in, the bride and groom are not going to notice, there too excited that they are getting married!

Re: Church wedding ceremony
I find that people are choosing not to dress up in their reception attire when they go to church anymore. If I have time between church and reception, I never dress up formally. I usually will put on a pair of black pants and nice shirt. The past 5 weddings I have been to this year most people in church were not dressed up in formal clothes. I think as long as you are not in jeans it will be fine.

I think that a nice comfortable sundress or skirt outfit would work. You don't need to wear your evening gown. Jeans in my book is not exceptable for church. (not that that is what you were planning) I think that some people might get offend if you show up too causal to the mass. Just dress resepectably and nice.

I think that this is fine for a church wedding. No need for your husband to wear black pants, khakis are fine.
