well apparently i'm on the church hunt again. The one we fell in love with will most likely not work out, much to our disappointment. We are having the reception at Giorgio's. I think St. Patrick's in Southold is a little too far (about 35 minutes away).
Any catholic churches in riverhead/wading river area? (the one in mattituck was the one we liked). That will let you marry there even if you don't live in that town? Our first choice is Catholic, if they all have the same strict rule we will go with a Presbyterian/Lutheran Church.
I do want it to be a pretty church, as petty as that sounds.
Suggestions?

St. Louis DeMontfort is about 20 minutes from Giorgio's in Sound Beach on NY Avenue. Hope it helps!

Re: Churches near Giorgio's
I'm going through the same thing right now (booked for 2010, so many churches don't want to hear from me until the summer!) I tried the one in Mattituck, but they don't do out-of-parish weddings. I did find a beautiful one that does, though. It's Saint Isidore, in Riverhead. They will do out-of-parish weddings and are less than 10 minutes from Giorgio's. Give them a try.
omg i just found them online, and I was wondering that! thank you so much! Have you seen the inside? It looks huge- I'm worried it will be TOO big (we will have about 150 ppl probably). Or is it a good size?

St. John the Baptist in Wading River is beautiful! I have a few friends who were married there and then had their reception at Giorgios, you should definitely check it out, the church is on North Wading River Rd.

It does look big, doesn't it? I think 150 will fit nicely in it. It's a bit deceptive - I found it to be somewhat intimate and cozy. After my last trip to Giorgio's, we stopped in to look at the inside - it's really beautiful. The stained glass is really something! Give them a call and see if they have your date open - the assistant was very pleasant and said they would have the 2010 book ready in the summer, so they definitely can search for 2009.
Good luck!

Re: Churches near Giorgio's
Thanks everyone. I checked out St. Isidores and St. Johns. We called St. Isidores first. It sounds like it shouldn't be a problem, however, they are getting a new priest in June, so we will have to call back then and talk to him.
He didn't even look at our date, he said it was down the road and not to worry.
I think they don't realize how crazy brides are nowadays and book up years in advance lol.
So hopefully this works out! Can't wait to see the inside next time I'm down there.
