Aye yi yi, I think I'm not only a pain in the butt to Nick at CLM, but my questions are endless for you ladies! But you're all so helpful!!
Any recommendations for churches, south shore Nassau, in which I might be able to call and find out available dates? I'm willing to go a little into Suffolk as well. I don't know the other parishes and their priests/deacons, although I think I'd rather be married by a Deacon. They usually seem a bit more...I dunno, non-traditional haha. I LOVED my deacon at my church but...we have a date dilemma there. Could you recommend your church/deacon/priest to me? THANKS!
This is the dilemma. My church is not available for the date we chose with CLM. The date the church did have available, my ceremony would have been at 2pm, reception at 7:30pm. Yikes. So we decided to book CLM for the Saturday in which the reception begins at 6 (the date my church did not have) and plan to get married at CLM if we can't find a church.
Well, I hate that I don't have a gap between ceremony and cocktail hour to take pics!! I'm a traditionalist, what can I say? So I need an easy way to find a church as I am planning this shindig from out of town!!
Okay I'm long winded, but I'm obviously stressed. Thanks for your help in advance!!!

St. Rose of Lima in Massapequa on Merrick Rd. is my church. I'm so happy I got married there, the priest was great, the church is absolutely beautiful. It does have the longest aisle on Long Island though. (120').
Another pretty church is St. Martin of Tours in Amityville. Love that church.

YOu could also try St. William's in Seaford. They were really great when I got married there, and it is my 'home' parish.

Do you think any of those churches would be understanding of my situation? Planning from out of town, already booked a hall- that sort of thing?
I think I would like to be married by a Deacon as well...I really want someone who's a little with the times, if ya know what I mean. Yeah I was raised Catholic, but I'm such a liberal.
Thanks for your help!!
My mom actually plans on calling all these parishes, pleading them to help a mother who just wants her daughter married in a church!

Here is the web site for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. CLick on the Nassau Map, and you'll find all the Churches in the area and their contact information.
Just be careful what you say- a lot of churches will ask if you already booked your reception... They 'beleive' the Church should come first and may refuse you if they know you did otherwise... just a heads up!

Thanks...yeah I'm a little nervous about that too. We just have a difficult predicament, so I hope they'd understand. My deacon was great about it- but, they don't have our date!
Thanks for the link of the diocese- that will totally help!!!

My church is St. Christophers and we are getting married at St. Raymond's in E Rockaway. Both are beautiful.

We are getting married at my Parish, St. Barnabas in Bellmore. It is a very formal looking cathedral-type of church. Father Peter is marrying us, he is a sweetheart. I don't think he is toooo traditonal, he is allowing us to have a full mass and FH is not Roman Catholic.

St Rose is the first parish I called - I hope it works out! I just worry because it's a huge parish and I need a Saturday afternoon next August!! Luckily they have two ceremony times, unlike my parish which only had one.
THANKS EVERYONE! You're all so helpful!!

Agreed. This church is VERY accomodating. They are just the nicest people. The church itself is absolutely gorgeous and only 10-15 minutes away from CLM.

Oh man, I wish I felt that way but the lady on the phone at the rectory didn't act so friendly. I guess I'll try her again. I suppose she was just doing her job when she refused to help me find out availablitly, and I'm just frustrated haha. She just said she'd give my number to a priest. I'll call back and ask for a deacon, hoping he'd be a little more loose.
I did call St Rose of Lima and the woman in the rectory was WONDERFUL. I hope I hear from them!!
