Hi Brides! We have some family members who like cigars (although FH himself is not super into them) so we were thinking of getting cigars as a surprise semi-favor (main favor is photo booth) for our wedding.
However, I can't decide whether it is really worth it to get the hand roller for the reception, or just order the cigars and display them on a table during VH? If hand roller, is the CH or VH more appropriate? There is outside patio access during both. My only worry is I don't want to take away from the reception, so would love your input! Thank you!!!!

Re: cigar roller - can't decide...
i would think hand roller....and is your CH outdoors? bec than maybe you can have it the,m...if not...then VH...also the smell of cigars is a profound one...so it might be best to do it at VH this way they will take them home and not bother other guests...
IMO i dont think i would do it through out the reception...just during CH or VH...

I think it would be better during the VH. I feel like the VH is a more chill time, and the CH everyone is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride & groom so the cigar roller might get swept under.

I like it better at the VH because that's when everyone is relaxed and enjoying desert or dancing still.

I voted Cocktail hour. I would say it is best to offer some type of entertainment and CH is the best time.

I would do it during VH.....if you do it during CH the guys are going to stink (at least to those of us who HATE that smell) and are going to torture those who hate cigar smell during the reception (when you have to sit next to someone).
That's my take. I would do it during the VH when I'm free to dance and get away from the smoke since I don't like it.

Good point... I was thinking of the stink too and glad someone else brought it up.

Re: cigar roller - can't decide...
I think the whole idea is very cool, unfortunately for us, because so much of our family has dealt with cancer, we didn't think it was appropriate.
I voted for doing it during the VH, it's a nice way to end the night/day! I would also be afraid too many people would be outside puffin instead of at the cocktail hour eating and drinking!

Re: cigar roller - can't decide...
We reallly wanted a cigar roller but towards the end of planning it wasnt in our budget. We ordered them and the hall set up a cigar table with cutters and cognac and something else for dipping. We did it during the VH
It was still a huge hit and the hall even had someone serve and cut the cigars for us.
Also, when we priced the cigar rollers they infomed me that you arent supposed to smoke the cigars they roll because they are wet.... something to think about
We also got personalized ribbons for the cigars and matches.

I thought that you were supposed to have the CR at the end of the night (VH).

i have quotes from the little cigar factory which to me was HIGH & 1 from la casa grande tobacco which was considerably less & more cigars. Im getting 125 cigars, a roller for like an hour & a half for $595.... what did LCF quote you?

I think i want a CR tooo now but I would do it during the VH. If you do it during the CH it may take away from the reception because then people would be outside hanging out while the party is going on. IMO!

LCR is $450 + tax for 100 cigars dropped off 2 days prior to wedding and $1000 (inc. tax) for roller for 1 hour with 100 cigars. Wow, looks like La Casa Grande is definitely cheaper!!!

Re: cigar roller - can't decide...
Cigar roller is very cool... but usually the best time to have them is during or after VH. By then...no one really pays attention to the roller... they just want the cigar. I would opt to have some out on display for guests. Save so much money too. JMO
