What health plan do you use? I was thinking of getting HIP since thats what Ive had all along but it seems pricey. Not sure if its worth it? ANyone have an input ... Hmmm

I have aetna....never had a problem with them....not ready to do the reallu expensive ones yet....:)

unless you have a chronic health issue where you have to have tests, frequent doctor's visits, etc. i would go with GHI. the city PAYS ALL of it for you.... there is nothing taken out of your already small paycheck for GHI. i used it and had no problems and all of my doctors on the Island took it. i would spend the extra money if you don't need it.

Meant to say i would NOT spend the extra money on the other plan unless it offers something that you really need.

GHI. I have been in the system for 9 years... almost everyone I know raves about GHI. You can go to almost any doctor-- no refers needed.

definitely GHI
and i'd go for the extra coverage- it doesnt cost much at all, and its good to have, god forbid you need any major surgeries someday...

I have been with HIP my whole life and Ive never had a problem ...S o I thought I would stick with then BUT I will look into GHI as well. ANyone else on HIP?

I haven't HIP in quite a few years, but when I had it I thought it sucked!!! I'm in Queens, so if you use it on LI it might be different. I didn't care for the plan when I had it.

Thank you for the response. I was wondering, if I choose GHI should I go with the basic one? or would you recommend getting the extra coverage? (In case I have to get major surgery etc.)
