Claud! LONG

Thanks for asking about Luke's Christening. Everything went well. It was so stressful though between the baby and 'hosting' a party, I'm kind of glad the whole event is over. Luke was one of 3 babies getting Christened. He screamed his head off when they poured the holy water on his head. The rest of the time he was good but after that he was pis*ed. He was the first baby to go up and we were sitting right in front so the video that the family of the second baby has Luke's very healthy (and unhappy) vocals in the background. I stepped out into the hall with him when I got the chance so the other families could have their moment plus I knew he's calm down if I got mobile. LOL! He has to make his mark! The ceremony was beautiful. Even though I held him while he received the holy water, the Godparents were able to hodl him during a different part of the ceremony which was nice. I gave my digital camera to my nephew and he took some pics for me. We had dinner at Patrick's Pub in Little Neck in their private dining room - about 57 people - and it was fine, the food was good but we chose a buffet and they weren't replenishing it fast enough which really bothered me. They could have used a busperson or two. The only other event we've hosted was our wedding and it's of course alot different but I hated that DH had to go tell them to get more food out while 15 people were waiting...then again with needing more plates...so I found that part stressful in addition to caring for the baby. Luke had a mini-meltdown from the noise and so many people (and probably was uncomfortable in the suit) but thank God for Nanny (my Mom) she 'stepped in' with him so we could talk with everyone. He slept on her wrapped in a blankie for 2 hours. Poor guy! It was stressful on him too.

Everyone loved the CD's...I wrapped them with white paper and a sheer blue ribbon, attached a pic of Luke holding a sign that said 'Thank you' and I glued a little bear on each (which later my little nieces and nephews were trying to steal off everyone's CD-my one niece went home with 7 bears I think LOL) Most people were opening them at the party and oohing and aahing which of course made me feel good since I worked hard on them.
The pics I posted I took this past weekend. Despite being ready 1 hour early on the Christening Day, I felt like we were scrambling to get out the door on time - I know you know how that goes!!

So all in all it was nice to have everyone there to celebrate with Luke.

Yay! Sounds wonderful, Liz! I am so glad everything turned out great. That's a bummer about the food at the restaurant, tho.
I definitely understand the stress of hosting a party and caring for the baby. I felt the same way on Paul's christening day. Plus, DH and I had to be the 'photography police' b/c everyone wanted to snap pics (understandably), but we were very concerned about so many flash bulbs going off too clost to his little eyes. It's not easy being a parent! LOL!

I knew the CD's would be a big hit - it sounds like you decorated them beautifully! I hope you saved one for yourself, Mommy.

Big hugs and congratulations to you, Derek and Luke John.
