What kind of mops do u ladies use to clean your floor with. There are so many out there I'm driving myself nutz! There are regular stringy mops, Spongey mops, then we have the swiffer and the clorox mop, and all the other new ones. I need to buy a new mop, which one is the best??

I hate my Clorox Mop! It's going in the next garage sale - it leaks and is only good for picking up a quick spill, which I can do with a paper towel.

I've used the stringy kind and the spongy kind. I don't like the stringy kind where you twist the handle to wring it out because they don't get enough water out for dry mopping. If you invest in a serious bucket with attached wringer then they are good.

I like the spongy kind that have the flip bar to wring out the sponge. I've tried the type with the roller bar that squeezes the sponge and it's OK, but I prefer the other type.

PS - you'll get the best results with good-old-fashioned elbow grease - scrub brush, sponges, rags and getting down on your hands and knees to get in the corners, kickwalls, etc. I ususally do that once or twice a year.

when we lived in an apt with 1500 sq ft of hardwood floors...DH was OBSESSED with mops...I actually got him one for Chrsitmas!!


he tried the string mop...the sponge mop...the towel mop (where there is a towel on the bottom and you take it off to wash)...and the swiffer system (actually I think it was the clorox one)


the one he liked the best was the clorox system...then the towel mop (although he didn't like having to wash the towel all the time)


now...unfortunately we have mostly carpet so a small swiffer does the trick...and he is now obsessed with vaccumming...which is fine...since I don't have to do it!!

For really cleaning i have the Floormate....love it too!
